Two adaptations for those who install doors and windows

This time I propose to get acquainted with two more simple devices. One of them helps with the installation of doors, and the other when marking the facing of door and window slopes.

Description and drawings of the previous and these two devices were sent by one of my readers, for which many thanks to him.

Door leaf fixing devices

This tool is useful when you need to install hinges and locks "in place" and especially in confined spaces. The device helps to fix the door leaf vertically.

To hold the door leaf, two such racks at the ends of the leaf are quite enough.

The device is a base 1, on which a stand 2 is installed approximately in the middle, the vertical position of which is held by a reinforced corner 4. A pressure bar 3 is installed to the base 1 to fix the bottom of the door leaf, with the ability to move along the base 1 and fix it with threaded fasteners 5.

On one side, a limiter 9 is attached to the base 1 to fix the end of the door leaf. The door leaf is pressed against the upper part of the post 2 with a clamp, thereby securing the leaf in a vertical position.

The recommended materials for manufacturing are a bar with a section of 40 * 100 (80) mm, base length - 600 mm, rack height 400mm, stop 9 - 12mm plywood, steel reinforced corner 100 * 100, felt pads 2-4mm thick (you can self-adhesive).

Device for marking the cladding of door and window slopes

This device is useful for those who are often engaged in facing the slopes of window and door openings.

During these works, marking and adjusting the cladding panels takes a lot of time, and this device allows you to quickly determine the dimensions and angles in the openings.

As you can see in the figure, the device is a sliding ruler, at the ends of which short rulers that rotate 180 degrees are installed, allowing you to fix the angles of the slopes. And after fixing along the height (length) of the slope, the device is transferred to the facing (addition), on which the marking is made.

All parts are recommended to be made of 12mm plywood. The bolt heads are recessed flush with the plane of contact with the slope. In the corners of the bolt head, it is advisable to grind off half the thickness. In the places where the bolts come out in the fixation zone (80 mm for double bolts and 50 mm in the corners), it is necessary to glue on the PVA along the entire width thin sandpaper with a grain of 60-80 for reliable fixation.

In my opinion, according to the same principle, both a simpler and a more complex device can be made, with the addition of a 180-degree rotation in the middle of the ruler. This can be useful when making built-in furniture or flooring around various ledges and columns.
