Correct installation of insulation in a checkerboard pattern in several layers!

A warm roof and the house itself is a key factor in saving energy carriers, the cost of which rises every year. That's why insulation of roofs and walls is an important stage in the construction of structures. Today I will tell you how to properly install the insulation in a checkerboard pattern in several layers on the walls and roof.

I'll start with the roof. Any roof is considered to be a building envelope. Directly in contact with the external environment, she needs to constantly experience the consequences of sudden changes in temperature, the effects of wind and precipitation. Taking into account the fact that the thickness of the ceiling should reach 40 cm, it becomes clear what high loads each part of the roof is subjected to. To minimize these consequences, it is required to carry out the correct insulation. This must be done in a checkerboard pattern. The first step is to form a bias. This can be done by sprinkling expanded clay or using reinforced concrete elements.

When insulating walls, it is also important to observe a checkerboard pattern. In other words, the plates must move. ½ the length of the slab from bottom to top, counting from the corner wall. Insulation materials are staggered between the supporting structures in order to avoid the appearance of cold bridges or areas where the insulation layer is not enough for an optimal level isolation. In addition, the checkerboard pattern helps to avoid the formation of gaps between the plates. It is recommended to choose plates with a thickness of 5 cm. This is the most demanded and available thickness for most types of insulation.

I recommend insulating walls and roofs using a two-layer system. For this, two layers of material are used: bottom and top layer. In this case, the lower layer of insulation will be the main one. It is he who will have the highest properties of thermal resistance with low material strength. Its thickness can vary in the range of 7-17 cm. With the top layer, any kind of load will be evenly distributed on a flat surface. The top layer should be thinner than the bottom insulation. Its thickness can be in the range of 3-5 cm. However, it should have higher compressive strength properties. Such a distribution of layers will significantly reduce the weight of the material, and, accordingly, the entire structure.
