Manufacturing of facades using circular and milling cutters. Part 5
In this part, we will focus on the manufacture of decorative elements.
For their manufacture, I prepared templates, they are in the archive with drawings, which can be downloaded in the first publication about this cabinet. (See link above.)
I cut out all the decorative elements using a homemade jigsaw machine. Drawings of this machine can be found here.
According to the project, milling was required for the upper part of the cabinet. I made it on a milling table, and then cut this part to design dimensions.
Further, elements of facade decoration were cut out.
These parts were set aside for further processing, and the next step was the manufacture of a hanging rod, which was supposed to be at the bottom of the cabinet.
I made the bar itself on a router using a 9.5 mm radius cutter. In order to get a round stick with this cutter, you just need to mill a square bar with a section of 19x19 mm from four sides.
To prevent the bar from turning, entering and exiting the cutter must be done at some distance from the edge of the bar.
Next, it was necessary to grind the final elements of this bar. I didn't have a lathe at that time, and I solved the problem with improvised tools.
First, I cut off the corners of the square bar to make an octahedron.
Then he wrapped a plumbing pin into the end of the bar in the center. The drill was clamped in a vice, in the drill he clamped a hairpin with a bar and screwed on an impromptu assistant.
The result is a lower suspension like this.
More details on the manufacture of decorative elements can be seen in the video clip below.
The next part will be about making about grinding and preparing for painting
