Why do you need a belt sander in your home workshop. Review of the "tank" BOSCH and comparison with the previous machine
Greetings.
Currently, perhaps the most "running" is the eccentric sander. It can be used to solve almost all grinding tasks.
So why go for a belt sander then?
It all depends on the tasks and volumes. The first grinder I bought was a belt. It was the Makita 9910.
A large volume of planks had to be sanded during the construction of a house and a belt sander was the best suited for such work.
It can also effectively remove old paint, level large surfaces, grind edges on curved parts. To some extent, such a machine can perform the functions of an electric planer, since it removes a noticeable layer of material with coarse sandpaper.
The Makita 9910 belt sander has served me for over 8 years and has worn out quite a bit during this time. Repairs could probably be done, but after calculating the cost of spare parts, I decided that it would be better to buy a new one.
I chose to take the same or see something else.
I decided to take everything from another manufacturer and settled on BOSCH.
I looked at the reviews, specifications, where you can get it right away, so as not to wait for delivery. Lucky to have a discount.
This machine has 710 W of power, tape size 533x75 mm, tape speed 350 m / min, weight 3.4 kg. Indicators are slightly higher than my previous grinder.
The tape is self-centering and there is a regulator for small corrections.
With this machine you can work close to walls or sand quarters.
The front handle is removable and can be sanded pretty close in the corners.
Also, this typewriter is convenient to work in an inverted position. It fits stably and you can grind small parts.
It also has an additional hitch mount. On the site I saw BOSCH on sale a side stop with the ability to tilt, like on a jointer.
Plastic dust collector with filter. Attaches securely to the machine.
Immediately after the purchase, I tested the grinder on an oak board, sawn with a band saw.
It took about three minutes to sand this surface.
There was no dust in the air, and there was a decent heap in the dust collector.
At the moment, using this sander, I have sanded several square meters of oak.
This machine is quite heavy and just needs to be held down to grind effectively.
It certainly heats up when working, but in comparison with the previous one, it is somewhat smaller.
But I did not feel the vibration. I tried it with different tapes and in terms of the absence of vibration, the machine shows itself perfectly. True, it is quite noisy.
A video review and operation of this grinder can be viewed below.
