"A house made of wood stands for 30 years, then rots"

Wooden houses are our family hobby. My grandfather did it. Now I also build wooden houses from logs. For several decades, the houses I have built have been standing, and none of them is planning to collapse.

Therefore, I am very amused by the statements that a wooden house is a temporary house. And for a happy long life, only a brick house is suitable for yourself and your children. I write and remember the tale "Three Little Pigs". In it, by the way, the house of branches was quickly destroyed)) I think that in our reality this happens - when the builders are illiterate or simply unscrupulous.

I can safely call myself a professional in this field. And I assure you that wooden houses can stand for centuries! It's just that for such durable buildings, the right wood should be selected, which, even without special processing, will withstand "the snow, and the heat, and pouring rain."

See how many wooden buildings have survived from the past. The Kapellbrücke bridge alone in Switzerland is worth a lot! But it was built in 1365! And our Russian churches and temples of the XV-XVII centuries. Why are they still not destroyed?

It's all about the wood. They used to know exactly when and which tree to cut for further construction. Larch and pine were used. Trees from northern latitudes are especially good. At first, the trees were selected and marked. The marked trees were cut down before the sap flow began in winter, approximately in February. Such trees do not crack. There was no chemical treatment and impregnation, and this is not necessary. In some cases, the logs were treated with fire.

Is there now the construction of timber houses "for centuries"?

Of course. Modern wooden houses can also last for hundreds of years. Nowadays, craftsmen use KELO pine for durable construction.

Kelo is a Karelian deadwood pine. It grows in the northern regions of Karelia. In these latitudes, the trunks of these pines grow very slowly as they grow. The distance between the annual rings is unusually small and is 1 mm, which is why the pine has a fine-grained and dense structure.

Now kelo is a demanded and valuable material for the construction of wooden houses.

Here are the main benefits:

  • Due to the fact that the wood is as well dried as possible, pests do not start in it.
  • Kelo does not need to be treated with modern impregnations and antiseptics.
  • Due to their structure, Kelo houses will last for over 300 years without restoration.

Modern construction of houses from wood can also be of high quality and durable. the main thing - not to fall into the hands of unscrupulous craftsmen who, in a thirst for profit, will pass off an ordinary pine as a kelo.

If you want to know how to distinguish kelo from ordinary pine, give feedback in the comments. If you show interest, I will post an article for you!
