Foundation: Slab vs. Tape! 9 reasons
There is an eternal dispute among the masters of the construction business: which foundation is more reliable and economically profitable - slab or tape? I am all hands for a monolithic plate And I have 9 reasons for this. I'll tell you about them.
1. The slab foundation is a thick monolithic reinforced concrete slab for which no matter what soil it will be installed on. And this is a big plus. There is no need to spend time and money on hydrogeological exploration, which significantly saves the budget.
2. Slab foundation firmly withstands any ground movements and weather events, he is not afraid of frost, heat, rain, wind. The slab is a frost-resistant material. Even in the most severe frost, the ground under the stove will remain warm. And the clay soil under the slab will not heave.
3. Slab foundation practically frees you from preparatory earthwork. You don't have to dig deep holes because the slab is laid on top of the ground. All you need to do is create a sand cushion.
As for the slab foundation, the strip foundation also involves the creation of a cushion of sand or of a more expensive material - expanded clay. The costs of arranging a sand cushion will be required in both versions.
4. The strip foundation requires the use of steel rods. They are inconvenient and difficult to transport, and it is not easy to work with them, in contrast to composite reinforcement. For a monolithic slab, composite reinforcement is perfect as a reinforcement.. It is inexpensive, it is much easier to transport it, and it is more convenient to work with. Composite rebar is reliable and cost effective in construction.
5. The slab will serve not only as a foundation, it will also immediately forms a subfloor in the building. You do not have to spend money and time on the arrangement of the flooring. The strip foundation necessarily implies the creation of additional flooring.
6. A monolithic slab foundation is also good because will prevent capillary moisture from entering the house. Thanks to this, the floor, and the room as a whole, will remain dry.
7. The slab has a high bearing capacity. The loads that the slab foundation will withstand is 10 times higherthan those that will withstand a similar tape. Slab foundations do not require load calculations that will affect the foundation. The lack of these calculations significantly reduces the total cost of work.
For slab foundations, standards have been developed that reflect the possible load. The only thing worth considering is the weight of the planned building.
According to the norms, the slab is 200 mm thick. capable of holding a weight of 1,000 tons. The average weight of houses with 1-2 floors with finishing, furniture and residents is less than 500 tons. That is, in principle, you can discard the calculations, because the possible load is twice the actual one.
8. With arrangement, tamping and reinforcement of slab foundation even non-professionals can handle. This will reduce the cost of paying for the work of specialists.
9. Slab foundation durable and wear-resistant. It does not have to be regularly serviced and repaired. It has been excellently used for many years.
The time for equipping the strip and slab foundations will take approximately the same. Many people consider slab foundations more expensive. But people do not take into account the cost of arranging a rough floor with a strip foundation. And this amount in fact equalizes the total cost.
For me, a stove is reliable, durable and profitable! What do you say?
