How to avoid blooming in a barrel? 3 simple, effective ways to keep your water clean for a long time
I, as an avid summer resident, have long known a good way to increase yields. It is necessary that the water be heated for watering the garden. It would seem - such a trifle. But this is a very important aspect for a good harvest.
Cold soil reduces the ability of plants to absorb nutrients. In the future, the plant weakens and becomes an easy prey for pests. Therefore, the soil should not be cooled with cold water. For watering, it is better to use water at street temperature.
To keep the water cool, fill the tank with water overnight. During the day in the sun, the water will be heated to the desired temperature, and in the evening you can use it to water the garden. This simple method will save you time to warm up the water and increase the efficiency of the crop.
In order for the water in the barrel to warm itself up for irrigation, it must stand in the sunniest place. If the barrel is transparent, it must be painted with dark paint inside and out. This must be done so that the water blooms less in the tanks. The black color absorbs the entire spectrum of sunlight and prevents green algae from developing.
A barrel filled with water is always in my garden at my dacha. I like to get up in the morning and wash my face with this water, pour myself over)) Some kind of a kind of unity with nature or something) I get pleasure from this and a charge of energy.
But I face such a problem as water bloom. I think every summer resident has encountered this. The water turns green, and the walls of the container are covered with a green coating. I had to re-read a lot of information to cope with flowering. I really do not want to pour chemistry, and then poison myself and my crop with it!
For the pool, I used copper sulfate. It has a great effect. (You can read about this in my article, I will leave the link at the end of the article). But for the garden, regular watering with water with dissolved copper sulfate is undesirable, because copper compounds decompose for a long time, and as a result, accumulate in the soil and vegetables planted on it. Therefore, I do not use copper sulfate for irrigation.
I will share with you 3 methods - what you need to do to prevent the water in the barrel from blooming
If the water is in direct sunlight, then after about 2-3 weeks it begins to bloom, green algae grow in it. All this causes a lot of problems - you have to drain the water, thoroughly wash the inside of the barrel, and refill the water.
- The easiest way to avoid blooming water is to add a small amount of crystals. potassium permanganate into the barrel.
- Barrels of water should coverso that there is no access to air and direct sunlight to the water. In addition, it will also help reduce water evaporation. Try to use water as often as possible without letting it stagnate. If the barrel starts to rot, but the frame is in good condition, then put a plastic bag on the barrel. There are even special bags for barrels. They will also cover from the sun and create a seal.
- And another way to deal with algae is to throw several twigs of aquatic plantssuch as the naiad or hornwort. They help prevent water bloom.
Green water is unpleasant! Therefore, following simple rules will allow you to avoid flowering. Treat water conditions responsibly!
