I want to remove the stump on the site without uprooting on the advice of a blogger. Do these methods work? I really need your opinion
I built a garage this year. And it seems that I chose a good place. But as it turned out later, not quite. Everything is fine in the yard, but behind the gate in the grass I did not notice a stump. Such a good stump. Apparently a tree grew earlier. It was cut down long ago, but the stump remained. I, of course, tried to level it as much as possible to the ground. But when leaving, I still occasionally bump into him. And the spouse generally refuses to leave the gate because of this. But what to do, the garage is worth it. Stump too... Got used to it already!
I did not set out to root out the goal - everything was not up to that. I read that a stump can be good roundup pour, and all the wood will turn into dust in a few days. But in parallel with this, I read so many conflicting reviews about the fact that roundup is prohibited, about its harm to the soil, etc. I thought about it and decided that I would not use it yet.
But a few months ago I came across a blog post where this topic was discussed. Guests from Central Russia came to the man. One day they helped him to remove a few extra trees. And then, for that hIn order for the stumps to “move away”, they drilled several holes in them with a drill and poured salt into them. After that, the stumps with salt were covered with a plastic bag, overlaid with stones and left like that. The blogger writes that salt is gradually destroying the wood, and that within a year not a trace of hemp remained! The method is described as already proven. That is, after adding salt, a year passed, and the stump really disappeared.
I read it, I was already determined to do so. And then I came across another article. It describes a similar method. But instead of salt, you should use nitrate. It gives a faster effect. To be honest, it seems that the stump is no longer so worried. But still, if you deal with its elimination, then you want to see the result not in a year, but earlier. Therefore, the method with saltpeter interested me more.
How does all this happen?
Holes are drilled in the hemp. If for the method with salt a depth of 8 centimeters was recommended, then for saltpeter it is better to make the indentations deeper and expand them a little more in diameter. It is advised to add about 100 grams of ammonium nitrate to each hole. The grooves are clogged with chopics.
That's basically it. And then you just wait for the stump to turn into dust itself.
Saltpeter can be potassium and sodium. If you use it now or by winter, then in the spring you can add kerosene to the grooves and set it on fire. Then the whole stump will burn out from the inside.
Which is better - salt, saltpeter or roundup?
I really never heard of it. And I just plan to use the tips. But it would be interesting to hear your verified reviews! Is it worth using it or is it still worth uprooting this stump?
