Four variants of box connections that can be made with a circular saw. Part 1

Greetings.

I propose to see how you can make 4 types of connections for boxes using a circular saw.

In this part I will cover two of the four connections. These are joints with right angles.

First connection

This is perhaps the simplest of these types.

Since for these examples I use pieces of furniture board, the thickness of which is 18 mm, it turned out to be convenient for marking to use a metal strip 6 mm thick.

A groove is marked in one part, and a spike in the other. The groove is marked along the edge as a 6x6 mm square and is located 12 mm from the edge. That is, 1/3 of the board thickness is the width and depth of the groove, and 2/3 of the board thickness is the beginning of the groove. For a thorn, the markings are the same, only it will be removed from the end.

The next step is to adjust the cutting depth. The plank came in handy here, although it was possible to mark it out with a ruler.

Next, using the corner stop, I cut out a groove in several passes, and then a spike. For the tenon, the saw blade is adjusted according to the finished groove.

The result is a simple and reliable connection.

Second connection

The next connection is a little tricky. It has one groove and two studs of different sizes.

Everything also starts with the markup. The central part is equal to 1/3 of the part thickness.

The disc rises to the thickness of the workpiece. First, two cuts are made to mark the boundaries. To do this, just adjust the distance from the stop to make one extreme cut, and then just turn the part 180 and make the second cut. Next, choose what is left in the middle.

The next step is to shorten one of the resulting spikes.

This tenon is trimmed 2/3 of the part's thickness.
