Great craft for school: Quickly and easily build a birdhouse with your own hands
Well, is the time for autumn crafts and homemade bird feeders already in your schools? Our child was asked, and we embody, as always, with the whole family!
Well, to be honest, crafts made from natural materials are not something I would like to do on the weekend. And the feeders made of juice boxes and five-liter bottles were not at all impressive. Therefore, we decided that we would design a birdhouse.. The house for the cat has already been built! Now we will build for birds too!
Well, we'll show you, suddenly it will come in handy too!
I warn you right away that we will have to break the rules a little - we will build without a project! So, I ask the especially correct builders to leave))
Now I will read out the entire list of what we need. After all, preparation is the most important first step on the path to success! So:
- Joiner's glue - 1 pack
- Cloth - wipe off the glue
- Loop 20x40 mm - 1 pc.
- Nails 35 mm - 4 pcs.
- Self-tapping screws 5 mm - 8 pcs.
- Self-tapping screws 15 mm - 4 pcs.
- Pine lath 20x45x2000 mm - 1 pc.
- Board 20x95x2000 mm - 1 pc.
- Board 20x150x2000 mm - 1 pc.
- Dowel (round rail) with a diameter of 10 mm, length - 2000 mm - 1 pc.
Materials prepared! Let's get down to construction! The difficult question with the type of foundation disappears. This makes me happy! It will be replaced by a pole for attaching the "house" to a tree. For its manufacture, using a jigsaw, we cut a bar to size: 20x45x500 mm.
Walls and floor. Next, from a miter saw, we cut the board into 4 parts with dimensions of 20x95x200 mm - these are the future walls for our house. From the same board we will make a rough floor, oh, that is, the bottom of the birdhouse - 20x95x140 mm.
Roof.From a wider board, use a miter saw to construct a roof deck. It would be possible to build an attic, but the birds whispered that they did not need these excesses. We make a simple roof with one slope... or better flat. Dimensions: 20x140x150 mm. One two-meter board will make as many as 2 bird houses!
We fix the walls. It is necessary to mark the places for screwing in the screws. On the side walls, we retreat 2 cm from the edge, and at the bottom - 1. Then we connect the walls.
Let's take care of the furniture right away! Saw off a piece of 15 cm from the round strip of the dowel. We get a stylish sofa perch for new settlers.
We almost forgot about the doorway! Woe builders! We do it on the front side using a screwdriver and a round cutter with a diameter of 45 mm. Below we make a round hole for the perch. Diameter - 8 mm.
Sports corner for chicks.On the inner wall of the front panel, using a thick drill, we make a special "finish" - in the form of notches. "Climbing wall", along which it will be easier for chicks to climb out.
Next, we attach the bottom to the walls using self-tapping screws.
And to the back wall of the birdhouse we screw a loop to fix the roof.
And the final stage. We draw a straight longitudinal line along the center of the back of the birdhouse. We retreat 10 cm from the bottom edge, put marks and use 4 nails to nail the pole to fasten the house to the tree.
We fix the perch in the opening with PVA glue.
Kids can color and decorate the bird house as they please! They should also take an active part in the work! You can hang a birdhouse together - with the whole family. But our student did it together with the teacher and classmates!
