An atmospheric vintage sideboard turned out from an old rotten after rework
There should be no obstacles for the embodiment of creative ideas. Many people throw away old furniture in a landfill, although it can be restored by completely redesigning it.
One talented woman acquaintance buys old furniture for a penny, changes its design and sells it for good money. This idea arose when a woman was doing repairs in the apartment. It was a pity to throw out the old furniture, the girl altered it and put it in the country.
The presented buffet was in a terrible state, it had to be not only repainted, but also restored.
Glasses, handles, hinges and other metal elements were removed before starting work. Then they thoroughly washed and dried all the parts. To get rid of the smell of old furniture, a mixture of ground coffee and soda was poured into the sideboard. After a few days, the mixture was removed. This is the first time I have heard of this method, it is necessary to try it on old furniture on occasion.
With the help of a drill with a special nozzle, they got rid of the remnants of the old varnish. This work is best done outdoors in order to save yourself from unnecessary cleaning in the house.
Buffet after rework:
The holes from the handles were putty, after drying, the surface was leveled with sandpaper. We attached new legs and plywood bottom to the sideboard. Covered the furniture with an adhesive and blocking primer, which helps to hide the yellow spots that have come through.
Then three coats of paint were applied, for the alteration used the color of cappuccino, white cliff and the king of mushrooms. The lower doors were decorated with vertical stripes.
The bottom of the boxes was covered with wallpaper. The corners and edges were rubbed with sandpaper to create an antique effect. Then apply 3 coats of matt varnish. At the end, new relief glasses and beautiful white handles with brown leaves were installed.
The result is a rather unusual vintage sideboard, it will perfectly fit into the interior in the Provence style. Agree, it turned out very nice and atmospheric, such a pleasant and cute design.
It's no wonder people are willing to pay big bucks for such unusual things. In addition, it is handmade, which is highly valued all over the world.
❓❓❓ How do you like such a wonderful transformation with a branch of furniture? Did you like the result or was it worth throwing the buffet in a landfill?
