Do-it-yourself cement flower basket
Good day, friends. Today we are going to make a concrete decorative flower basket that can beautify any area. Such concrete bowls can even be taken as a business idea. To make at home and sell to neighbors))) I have long wanted to do this for myself and will definitely do it as soon as the warming comes, especially since I already have everything I need.
Of course, the idea is not new and has long overgrown with a long gray beard, but it should be in the channel's collection.
And so, let's get to work. We need sand, cement, water, a container for mixing the solution and plastic baskets as in the photo. These can be bought for pennies at any hardware store. The photo shows that we are using baskets of the same shape, but different in size.
Knead the solution and bring it to a pasty state. It is very important here not to overdo it with water, so that the solution does not spread out of the mold.
Then we spread the solution in larger baskets and try to distribute it evenly over the inner surface of the mold.
The thickness of the cement layer must compensate for the difference between the dimensions of the outer and inner shapes.
After the solution has been distributed, we make a preliminary impression, insert a smaller mold and press down slightly.
Then we take out the inner form and it will clearly show us where the thickness of the solution was not enough.
We report the required amount of mortar to the designated places to even out the thickness.
Then we insert the inner mold again and press it tightly into the solution so that the excess solution comes out through the decorative holes of the inner mold. This will ensure that everything is evenly distributed over the entire surface of the bowl.
Now we proceed to the important part, we form the rim of our bowl. To do this, we report an additional solution and squeeze it a little. Here our task is to clearly repeat the contour with the solution in the plastic form.
Remove excess mortar with a knife or spatula, as it is more convenient for you.
At the final stage, smooth out the shape with your finger. Pay special attention to this point, as this outer edge is an important aesthetic component of the bowl.
The excess solution with excess liquid is removed with a sponge, both from the inside and from the outside. Try to remove the excess to the maximum, this will then greatly facilitate the process of removing the plastic form.
These are the products you should get as a result. As the solution hardens, you can go through with a damp sponge several more times and remove all excess.
We leave our creation to dry completely and now remove the molds. First, take out the inner form, first you need to tap it a little, you can pick it around the edges with a knife. Then we grab it with pliers and slowly take it out so as not to break it.
There is no need to knock hard here and I do not recommend rudely pulling out the mold either, it will still be useful to you. With a fool, you can break your nose))))
This is the inner surface we got as a result. Of course, if you pour soil there and plant flowers in it, then special beauty on the inside of the bowl is not needed at all. For drainage, it is better to drill several holes in the bottom.
The outer shape is a little more complicated. First you need to tap it, and then pour it over with boiling water. After boiling water, the form is removed freely and remains intact.
Remove the outer mold and let the surface dry.
Most likely, dimples from air or poor mixing of the solution may remain on the surface, but this is already nonsense. They will not be visible after final finishing.
Next, we take a spatula or any other similar tool, and begin to refine the edges of the vase, removing it.
If you are really quite an esthete and perfectionist, then you can process it with sandpaper, bringing your product to perfection)))
Now decorate your basket as your heart desires. In our case, paint on stone with a preliminary primer was used.
Painted, of course, not very stylish, but you get the idea. As a result, you decorate your yard with beautiful concrete flower baskets. The spouse will be happy and the neighbors will start to envy))
I will add on my own that I will definitely not paint them, because I prefer the color of natural concrete. In my opinion, it will look much more harmonious.
Well, that's all, take note and decorate your farm. And with you was Mikhalych, all peace and kindness!
P.S. If such homemade products for the garden and the city are of interest to you, then put the likes. So I will understand that you can continue the topic of improving the site and will look for other similar goodies for you.
