No kidding: Seam without sealant at the junction of the pallet and the wall
This experiment is already one and a half years old. I put it at home and so far I am satisfied with the result, since plastic sealants are not actually used on the abutment seam. And what is there? Yes, custom grout, only moisture resistant, but there is still a nuance.
If you look closely, you can see that the pallet is slightly "recessed" into the wall, that is, the tile is glued only above it, and there is no tile behind it. Due to this, it was possible to calmly seal the seam between the pallet and the wall with grout. This position of the pallet ensures stability and minimal movement.
With a stable support under the bottom of the pallet and despite the loads during use, the seam did not fall off, but remains stable with very little chipping on the left, which is almost imperceptible (photo 1).
And this is how the facade looks. The base is lined with cut on 4 cm strips with tiles, in the upper junction of which there are no cracks and grout shedding. So the tests continue. So far, things are going better than expected.
IMPORTANT! Keep in mind that sophisticated sealants are not needed only if you prepare a sensible support for this and bring the edge of the pallet under the tiles.
