"Two from the casket": I cut twin glasses from bottles
I cut one of the glasses much earlier - experimental sample, so to speak, very successful with. And so, again I came across exactly the same bottle from under the Georgian brandy, from which I started to make another identical twin, since the first one came out very convenient. I walked towards the goal gradually.
On a primitive, but quite working bottle cutter, which is made on the basis of a household glass cutter, I make a cut around the circumference of the bottle. Since the bottle is cone-shaped in height and ellipse in diameter, an ordinary eraser had to be placed under the bottom of it to align. So the cut turned out to be uniform and without distortions in the plane of the circle.
For reliability, I made a circle cut twice, since after the first pass there were gaps.
To separate the top, he warmed up the bottle at the cut in a circle with a gas burner. You can also do this over a gas stove, but the likelihood of ruining the bottle increases, since not only the place of the cut, but also the parts adjacent to it will be heated over the burner.
After about a minute warming up, I lower the bottle into a prepared bucket of cool water and, after clicking the glass, I easily separate the top from the bottom.
The picture shows slight irregularities, although in reality it was slightly worse (see video below). A not entirely successful chip first had to be trimmed with pliers. Then he took up grinding the newly-made glass, using round pads for a grinding attachment for a drill.
First, I took a circle with a grain size of 80, and worked with it on a drill, then brought the surface of the end to a matte state in a circle of 400 in a slow manual mode. Grinding was performed with periodic wetting of both sandpaper and glasses.
At the end of the case, it was almost impossible to distinguish the newcomer from the No. 1 glass. And they became the same in height and shape and complemented each other's company. So the business ended successfully and it remained to celebrate the success by drinking 350 grams of the long-loved tomato juice from the newly-made product.
In the future, I want to expand this set even more, but so far there are no such bottles in stock. As soon as I get it, I will continue to join the ranks... Do you like the result?

I decided: I bought a convenient and nimble jigsaw. How do you like it?
Super file: cut ceramics with a jigsaw
No kidding: a seam without sealant at the junction of the pallet and the wall
