We insulate the loggia with our own hands

click fraud protection

If you have already begun to prepare for winter, then you are probably thinking about how to insulate the loggia yourself. Doing it yourself is not at all as difficult as it might seem at first glance.

The insulation of the loggia begins, of course, with glazing. The modern market for plastic window structures offers a wide variety of options. Give preference to double-chamber windows with a minimum thickness of 32 mm. They retain heat well and protect against street noise. Do not forget that after installing double-glazed windows, it is necessary to seal all seams with polyurethane foam.

The subsequent steps in warming the loggia yourself should be work on laying the insulation on the floor, walls, ceiling. For loggias, it is best to use rolled insulation, which, with a small thickness, have excellent heat-saving properties. Please note that the insulation must be made of a non-flammable and low-flammable material. This will keep your home safe from flames and fires. Such heaters include, for example, Penoplex and Penofol.

In order to properly insulate the loggia yourself, purchase special fasteners with which the insulation will be attached to the wall. In any store, you will be offered several types of such fasteners to choose from.

Penoplex is attached to the wall with the first layer. Do not forget to seal the seams and joints of one sheet to another with polyurethane foam.

The next layer is Penofol. It must be fixed with foil to itself, that is, inside the room. This material will not only make the loggia warmer, but will also serve as an excellent vapor insulator. It must be laid in such a way that the sheets are closely joined to each other, and it would be good to glue the joint for insulation with special aluminum tape.

Tips for insulating the loggia yourself

To keep the loggia warmer, do not place the final coating directly on the foil. Make a frame from planks 15-20 mm wide. And already attach slats, plastic or any other coating to it. Thanks to the air gap between the foil and the coating, you will make the effect of a thermos on the loggia, which will better keep warm.

By the same principle, you can insulate not only walls, but also the floor and ceiling. This method is not complicated, economical and allows you to insulate the loggia yourself, not even a professional. You will certainly appreciate all the advantages of such insulation in the cold winter.
