How to "rejuvenate" Violet at home without any problems. 5 Tips that will be useful to all growers
Violet is a very beautiful plant that requires timely care and rejuvenation. After several years of growth, the violet begins to age, the trunk becomes ugly and crooked, and the flower stalks no longer please with such bright and lush flowering.
That is why I was faced with the problem of rejuvenating violets at home, since it is very expensive to buy ready-made plants. Based on personal experience, I can recommend several options for rejuvenating violets that give good results.
· The simplest is to add soil. This method is ideal for violets that are no more than 2 years old. In this case, the lower tier of leaves must be cut off, and the place between the soil and the remaining leaves must be carefully sprinkled with new earth.
You can disinfect the stem or cover it with moss. In this case, the flower should not be filled with water.
· Rooting the cut top. If the plant is quite old and it is already 5-6 years old, only the crown of Saintpaulia can be rooted. With such rooting, you need to cut off the top with 5-6 leaves, remove the rest of the leaves.
Remove old leaves from the trunk, sprinkle with activated charcoal and leave in air to dry. Next, the root can be placed in water for rooting and after a couple of weeks planted in the ground or planted in a clean pot with ready-made soil and put in a greenhouse for 3 weeks.
The creation of a greenhouse will create the most optimal microclimate for the transplanted violet.
· The third way is pinching. In the process of growing, the violet lets out stepchildren, especially if it is planted in a large pot. You need to carefully separate the little stepsons from the main plant and plant them in a separate pot.
· Seed propagation. Sometimes the old bush leaves a box with seeds after flowering. Seeds need to be selected, after that they are laid up the ground and covered with a film, sent to a bright place for rooting for a month.
After germination, when the plants reach 0.5 cm, you need to pick and plant the plants in a separate container. I carry out this process with a toothpick.
Thus, you can quickly breed your favorite variety. I buy seeds from experienced professionals or flower shops, at exhibitions. The soil and tools must be disinfected before diving.
· Leaf rejuvenation. If the plant has withered and cannot be rejuvenated using the methods described above, there is only one way to save it.
It is necessary to separate a couple of healthy leaves, put them in water for rooting and, after the appearance of small roots, plant them in specially prepared soil.
This method will allow you to get several young violets at once, but you should wait about a year until they get stronger and discard the buds.
By choosing one of these methods for rejuvenating violets, I can achieve stunning results. Personally, I prefer to use almost all methods, while violets look just gorgeous for me for a whole year.
