Simple pipe soldering without a soldering iron. Show quality in a cut

Soldering polypropylene pipes - the lesson is not frequent, so an urgent need first of all asks: "How to solder pipes without bothering, well, it would be better without a soldering iron?" I want to assure you that this is not a mere invention, but a real opportunity. For soldering pipes without a soldering iron and nozzles we will use two types of PPR pipes: 20 mm (for cold water) and 25 mm (for heating).

But what is needed to sleep polypropylene pipes in this way? Answer: only a gas burner or any other source of directional flame not too high intensity.

After the soldering has cooled down, we will check both finished joints for quality by assessing the degree of sealing of the pipes inside and the integrity of the inter-pipe connections.

It is more convenient for me to start heating from the fitting, in this case 1/2 couplings for 20 mm pipe. As it warms up with rotation, it even flares up a little. To warm up even with a weak flame, it takes only seconds 20-30. Immediately I turn to heating

pipes 20 mm, which takes the same amount of time. Along the way, I warm up the fitting one more time, but quite a bit. I connect the heated parts in the standard way and put them aside.

While the twenty is cooling down, I make the same connection of the 25th pipe with a 3/4 fitting.

A couple of minutes after both rations have cooled down, I check the quality of the connection visually. First, you should look inside the pipe from the side of the soldered fitting and make sure that the diameter of the pipe has not swam with molten polypropylene, which can cause the water pressure to drop sharply. I assure you that in both cases of the experiment the clearance is clear, so everything is fine.

Well, and the most important thing is to check whether after joining the molten parts a monolith has turned out at the junction. Although the fitting and the pipe were heated in turn, the result was good. In support of this, I provide a snapshot of the cut fittings exactly at the joint. (photo 6), cut off the rest.

As for me, the result is even better on a 25 mm pipe. The line of the joint between the coupling and the pipe is almost invisible, only a vein of the aluminum layer is visible.

Connections PPR pipes without a soldering iron can be used in places of not too high responsibility: summer water supply in the yard; seasonal piping in the country; long ground / above ground timeline, etc. In houses and apartments I would not dare to do this either at myself or at anyone else's.
