Table lamp from a bottle. Showing how
I have long wanted to make a table lamp from a bottle, I finally decided. But I didn't think she was thick-walled. I realized this when I cut off the bottom and wondered if something would work out, since it was necessary to drill a couple of holes in the glass for the electric wire. For cutting, I used a glass cutter, a gas burner and a bucket of water. The cut had to be sanded a little, and even a small crack went.
The main work began with drilling holes in the side of the neck and in the center of the cut bottom. For this I used German drill of the S&R brand for 6 mm soldered YG6. It did its job perfectly in 15-20 minutes.
Then mounted on the edge of the wire cartridge E14 under a light bulb with a small base and began to pull the wire through the bottle, passing it through the hole in the neck (see gallery above). Then he undertook to connect the parts of the bottle with a cork with a through hole for a bolt selected along the length.
To connect, I took two more silicone plumbing seals and put them on the glass at the top and bottom of the bottom. From below, on the bolt over the silicone seal, I put a washer of the same diameter and tightened it with a nut.
Then I put the main part of the bottle on the cork screwed to the bottom, check it for stability and slightly tighten the nut from below. She gradually tightens the bolt, the cap of which slightly expands the cork from the inside, due to which the bottle holds even better.
It's time to screw the light bulb into the socket and tighten the wire so that the socket fits snugly into the narrow part of the bottle. I also select the best position of the ring on the holder, which centers the light bulb well. In addition, I do not fix the cartridge with anything.
After assembly, I put the plug on the other end (cm. photo gallery) and not far from the lamp I mount a switch. Naturally, I can't wait to ignite and check this whole thing. Wow, it's burning! The test is successful, but if only there is still some kind of lamp shade. Somehow later, but for now I made a temporary "hat" from a sheet of cardboard on the bottle and put it on the table.
When switched on, the light through a white sheet of cardboard is obtained with a purple tint. This is because of the light bulb, probably, but I like it and will work like this for now. Such a structure will not warm up with a 7-watt light bulb even with an open top.
