Mixer: what parts can be left when replacing

A friend asked me to buy a good quality mixer and replace the old one, which is inconvenient due to the lack of a spout. Brand new chrome-plated brass is versatile and suitable for bath and shower. I want to show you the order in which I installed this single-lever mixer in a shower enclosure with an acrylic tray. I'll tell you for one thing what parts did not touch when replacing the mixer.

The old mixer is not yet old at all, it simply did not justify the high confidence shown, for which it was deprived of its position. All its parts are in good order, so that on occasion it will serve as a donor compatible cartridge, soft hose or shower head.

I decided to assemble the new mixer before dismantling the existing one and put it back in place already fully assembled.

I start by assembling the watering can. It happens that the hose with the outlet under the watering can is wound the other way around, so you need to be careful and wrap the watering can in a flare nut, and put the nut with edges on the mixer, only after screwing the spout.

Yes, and do not forget to put the seals included in the kit. There are 4 of them: 2 by 1/2 inches and 2 by 3/4.

Now pouring out. Since it will be constantly turned back and forth to collect water, then for a better stroke and so that the fastening nut does not unscrew, ring I lubricate the seals on the spout and the inner surface of the inlet on the mixer body with any detergent and only then screw the spout itself (cm. video below). Then I screw the other end of the hose with a watering can.

IMPORTANT! A poorly screwed spout often causes leaks, which is why a plumber is called in, who will not work badly in 5 minutes. Only a normal wrench is needed, which does not deform the nut and does not scratch it.

I dismantle the old mixer. After shutting off the water, relieving pressure and unscrewing two nuts of the mixer being replaced, two threaded outlets protrude from the wall - eccentrics, which are screwed into the pipes in the wall. That's just I did not change the eccentrics,because after a few years they are in perfect condition. Moreover, they have already been displayed as they should.

I also did not change the decorative inlay rings screwed on eccentrics. I just wiped them with a rag and that's it. In addition, their rear margins are also cropped (cm. photo 5) to loosen the thread for the mixer nut more.

As he coped with rings, he proceeded to the installation of the mixer itself. To do this, I inserted rubber sealing rings into the nuts on the body and screwed it onto the eccentrics. I pulled it up with a key, but so as not to cut the gaskets. With the mixer EVERYTHING! It remains to resolve the issue with the attachment of the watering can.

Since there are no complaints about him, I also decided not to change the watering can, just marafed it a bit.

So in the end I didn't change three things: eccentrics, decor rings and a watering can mount. We have this new kit and will be in stock.
