A common problem in working with sealant in "tubes". How to deal with chewing? I show a simple way, without any alterations.

"What can possibly go wrong in a simple sealant job?" - Such a question will be asked either by amateurs who have never dealt with this, or by super-professionals who have already worked out everything with experience. Everyone else probably knows what I'm talking about...

Friends, I am glad to welcome you. To be honest, just a year ago I thought that the sealant is only in this version ...

I have a lot of them, all sorts of different))).

But the work on the vapor barrier of the roof came. And then it turned out that sealants are also in soft packaging.

  • This option seems to be more economical.

But there is one unpleasant nuance in it ...

Before I tried to work with such a sealant for the first time in my life, I heard a lot of reviews about the fact that the soft packaging from the sealant is constantly chewed by the pusher from the gun.

And when I started to do the work myself, I also faced this.

Of course, many will say that you need to buy a normal pistol and there will be no problems.

I agree, but at that time, there was only one option in the store, and that one, something about 800 rubles (To be honest, I didn't want to pay any more.). So, I shied away from the circumstances.

What is the essence of the problem?

It's all about the gap between the piston and the walls of the gun. Everything seems to be quite tight, but when the sealant is squeezed out, the remnants of the soft package fall into this gap and then everything jams. It’s like you just started a new tuba, but it’s like it’s all over.

In search of a solution to this problem, I came across options for reworking this pusher, in a variety of ways, and I myself began to think about it ...

But of course, there was a much easier solution.

After the gun chewed a couple of "sausages", I began to look inside more and more often to check how things were going there. And thus found a solution to the problem.

  • If from the very beginning of work with a whole tube of sealant, take the pusher back several times (i.e. squeeze, squeeze, and you take it back, then again the same thing, and so 3-4 times), and return it to its place, then all subsequent work will go without problems.
  • In this way, a sufficient amount of this soft packaging is already compacted, and it can no longer clog into the gap at the walls of the gun.

So a lot of work has been done.

All vapor barrier joints with beam walls, etc.

I don’t remember how much I spent this sealant, but having adapted in this way from the very beginning, there were no problems throughout the work.

Hope it helps someone too...
