Imagine a situation: someone bought a plot on a slope with a gorgeous view of the surroundings. I wanted to build a wooden (or frame) house on screw piles (due to some height difference), but changed my mind and a desire to build a stone house appeared. How to be?

Burrowing into a slope and building a basement? It is expensive. Costs up to 1 mln. rub., or even more. Let's say I would like to build a small house made of aerated concrete or warm ceramics with panoramic windows looking at a beautiful landscape, but also to fit into a certain budget.

There is an exit. Instead of screw piles (for wooden houses), concrete piles can be driven in. And at a cost, it will not be much more expensive than a foundation on screw piles. The main thing is that the slope is not steep and not on a rocky base. Do you think that a piling machine, a pile driver, is the same as it works in the city when the construction of high-rise buildings begins? No, the technique is miniature:

1. The slope is treacherous. Today the soil is dry, but if it rains for a long time and it becomes watered, then there is a possibility of its movement. Even if you build a basement floor, digging into the slope is not a guarantee that you will be completely insured against such cases.

I have a friend who built a house on a slope. He crashed into the slope and built a basement (one side without soil). But he was reinsured and poured bored piles under the strip foundation of the basement. It took a long time. This is also an additional cost.

If you are still building a house with a basement on a slope, you can secure the future structure: in a few hours, drive about 10 piles under a strip or slab foundation. And the house will not move even a millimeter with any movement of the ground.

2. Melt and rainwater that flows down the slope must be reliably diverted from the house built on a slope with a basement. In the case of a foundation made of concrete piles, this protection can be left for later, after the main construction. Water can easily drain between the piles. They will not be squeezed out or tilted.

3. It is possible to drive piles at any time of the year, if there would be an entrance for equipment. And snow up to 0.5 m is not such a problem. Piles can carry a huge load without the risk of subsidence (everything is calculated). Even if there is soft or loose soil on the slope. With other types of foundations, there is always a risk that the soils will fail.

4. For those who are concerned about the reliability and durability of screw piles, driven concrete piles are his option. High-quality concrete, which is used in the manufacture of these products, is similar in quality to concrete in reinforced concrete overpasses and concrete coverings of airfields. It will last for 150 years.

5. The foundation on driven piles can be used where it is impossible for a concrete truck to drive up or even a concrete pump cannot reach with an arrow. Let's say, in places with rough terrain. In wetlands. And also in cases like in the video below:
