DIY tool for laying aerated concrete blocks
For laying blocks of aerated concrete, a certain tool is required. Of the main ones: a spatula (as for laying tiles), a rubber mallet, a bucket, a carriage for applying glue, a hacksaw for sawing blocks, a wall chaser, etc. I suggest consider some examples of useful tips: how you can literally make a convenient and even factory-made one in 10-20 minutes tool.
The following buckets are offered for laying blocks:
Glue application buckets. They come in different widths. It is not always convenient for them to work and not as fast as they wanted. Smudges appear at the edges of the blocks and they have to be covered up.
So that there are no strong smudges around the edges - use a spatula bent into such a shape for a tile. But you will have to work using another bucket for pouring glue. Perhaps it is not entirely convenient for them to work. There is no stiffness of the side edges and the glue will still create smudges.
To speed up the process, use a special carriage. It also comes in different widths. The cost
from 1500 rub. (200 mm wide) up to 2300 rubles. (for block width 500 mm). The thing is convenient, but if you have a construction of two or three blocks of different widths, then it is expensive to purchase for each masonry. You can make such a carriage yourself in 10 minutes:Assembled from three pieces of 25 mm board and a notched tile trowel. There is one subtlety: so that the glue does not squeeze out from the edges of the blocks and does not create smudges in the seams, the glue must be applied with an indent from the edges of the blocks. To do this, wooden strips 5 mm wide are screwed inside the homemade carriage. The carriage rests on them when sliding.
The spatula must be positioned at an angle. This will allow the adhesive to be applied evenly and without gaps. The process of working with this homemade carriage is shown in the video:
Next tool:
To reinforce every fourth layer of masonry and in the window-sill areas, you need to grind the blocks and lay the reinforcement on the glue. The cost of a factory wall chaser is from 500 rubles. But if you have a welding machine, then you can make it yourself from a piece of pipe or thick reinforcement: the second and third slide. The cutting part will need to be sharpened with a grinder.
The downside to using such a chasing cutter is that not quite straight-line grooves will be obtained. Ideally, they need to be marked (indent from the edge of the blocks), screwed on the board as a guide and chased along it. To save time, it is better to make such a wall chaser in 10 minutes as in this video:
These are two pieces of 25 mm board with wooden handles. Several self-tapping screws screwed through act as the cutting part. According to the author's assurances in the video, this simple device surpasses the factory version in terms of speed. Its downside is that it is impossible for them to make a strobe in the corners.
A corner is required for sawing blocks. Its cost is also not great - from 500 rubles. But here too, craftsmen find a way to save money. The first option is to make a wooden miter box. Place a block in it and cut it. The accuracy will not be great. In addition, when the saw teeth increase the width of the cut in the tree, the accuracy will drop even more.
The best option is to make a square from 40x20 mm rectangular pipes. Cut to the required length, screw to the block and weld their connection. To increase the rigidity of the structure, weld the reinforcement diagonally.
Sometimes the geometry of gas blocks is not ideal - you have to grind the joints between them. To do this, use the so-called grater or plane for aerated concrete. Available in hardware stores. But it is not so cheap. And you can make this tool yourself:
In the same hardware store, a nail plate is purchased for 150 rubles. and screwed to a piece of board with a bar handle. Another option is to drill holes in the board and screw self-tapping screws into them (second slide).
Lace fasteners are also an important element for high-quality masonry. Probably, they guessed that such a simple device can be made from a metal plate and three bolts with a head for a Phillips screwdriver. It is fixed to the block with a self-tapping screw.
I hope these tips that I have collected for my construction will be useful to you. They will allow you to save from 5 thousand rubles without compromising the quality of work. rub. and more. If someone has used other techniques that simplify the process or allow you to save money, write in the comments.
