New building material: thermobeam
There are many building materials on the market that have been tested for years and decades. But there are manufacturers who are trying to improve or change materials: to make them warmer, for example. Thermobeam belongs to this category:
Warm wall material. The price does not differ much from laminated veneer lumber due to the complexity of production. But there are hidden flaws that not everyone can pay attention to: if mice, ants get inside the wall, then they will live there forever. The rigidity of the structure of buildings is not reduced by much. An order of magnitude more toxic substances can be released during combustion. And its price - from 18,500 rubles / m3, is not comfortable for everyone.
The main advantages are low thermal conductivity (2.5 times warmer than conventional timber), ease and speed of construction from this material. This is probably why some people choose this wall material.
It is necessary to reliably close the ends in the masonry of the log house: glue the film and cover with a board on the sealant (without the slightest gaps). So that not a single ant could penetrate the insulation. But wood is a material that can crack and deform throughout its life. A gap or crack forms somewhere, and mice or ants can climb there.
Brief information about thermobeam and the cost of a house of 100 m2 from this material.
Another option with a combined pie made of wood and insulation: double timber with ecowool insulation. If you cannot make a thermal beam yourself, then this option is already available to self-builders: erect a frame and fill it with ecowool every three masonry crowns. But you need to reliably protect the ecowool from rain - cover with foil. Ecowool cost - from 3500 rubles / m3. Whereas timber - from 9000 rubles / m3. Yes, you can get savings on the walls. But.
Ecowool cakes over the years. It needs to be blown to the density of the slab with a special compressor into the already finished log house. These are costs. The rigidity of the wall structure is also at a minimum. Using this technology, building a house on two floors is a dubious undertaking. More option for baths.
Someone is trying to make even this frame technology cheaper. In this example, 10 cm of insulation is not enough (since there is no external wall). Brickwork is just a decorative finish. A 5 cm thick floor board tightened with hairpins is not enough even for a one-story house. There will be no rigidity and bearing capacity of the structure. Necessarily need vertical beams in such a design. But an option for small one-story buildings.
Remember: walls are only 30% of the value of a home. You don't need to save on them.
