How to seal a hole in drywall with cardboard and plaster

With the next repair, it becomes necessary to transfer the sockets or fill in the holes for spotlights. The first thing that comes to mind is to foam the hole, after the foam hardens, cut off and plaster the excess. Buying a foam cylinder for this?

Currently, all construction stores are closed, they work in the online store mode. And this foam cylinder will be golden subject to shipping. And everything necessary for the repair was purchased in advance, there is nothing to order. Previously, one could go to the store and ask for a piece of a drywall sheet at their warehouse - to seal it up. How to be? I share my way:

Other furniture will be installed in the room and it was necessary to close up two holes for spotlights along the edges of the niche. A piece of plasterboard sheet was not. Repair only in the form of changing the wallpaper and painting of this element. Because GKL is paper with plaster, so I decided to make this "pie" myself and immediately in the hole.

I cut out two "patches" of a slightly larger diameter than the holes from the corrugated cardboard from the box, inserted them as stops. Then I cut out the third patch, removed the corrugated layer, but left one paper one. I applied plaster, put in a third patch and plastered it with a thin layer. Finishing plaster, white.

How the plaster dried - primed. The result was fine. No one in this place will press on the structure. The plaster was purchased to fill up uneven walls after removing the previous wallpaper.

If you still have scraps from the gypsum board in repair, then do as shown in the video - it will be more reliable:

Give the hole a rectangle shape. From a piece of plasterboard we cut a piece of the same size, but preserving the outer layer of paper - so that it would lie on top of the walls. We mount on plaster.

Or there are still such simple methods, but you need a wooden block and self-tapping screws:

For an emphasis and reliability of closing the hole, a block must be screwed on the inside. We insert the "patch" and plaster. Or in the center of a piece of gypsum board we fasten a thick thread, push it inside, glue it on the back side, pulling the thread - without releasing the thread, plaster this hole. Cut the thread after drying.
