Why don't I start throwing away the old "grandmother's" suitcase, which I inherited. Retro hallway cabinet in 4 steps

In the immense "stream" of announcements about the services of furniture craftsmen, ordering a new wall cabinet in the hallway is not at all difficult. Experts will not keep themselves waiting long, they will promptly take measurements, send you a preliminary sketch tomorrow and, possibly, in a couple, three days, they will bring a new piece of furniture. BUT! Is it worth it to spend so much and equip your new hallway with a typical interior element?

If you are lucky and inherited an aesthetically obscene but “sentimental” suitcase! With which it is possible to equip / decorate / add functionality to your modern hallway so much so that the guests of the house will be 100% lingering in it, even after the outerwear is removed and footwear. That is why today I have prepared a simple step-by-step guide that will help you transform "grandma's" suitcase into a vintage and practical interior element.

In this case, you need to select 45 minutes of free time and some 250 rubles!

1.What do you need? Of course the suitcase itself! Another wooden rail / board 20 x 100 mm (approximate size, depends on the parameters of your suitcase), wood screws 35 mm, wood drill, mirror (items for decoration).

From tools - pencil, tape measure, drill-screwdriver and jigsaw.

2.Measurement and preparation of blanks. First, take measurements of the inside of the suitcase (length and width). Then cut the board so that you have 6 pieces. 2 will correspond to the length of the suitcase, and 4 to the width, minus 4 cm.

3.Manufacturing "frame". Now you need to assemble a rectangle from blanks with a central element, which will divide the entire structure into two equal parts.

By the way, before joining the bars together, drill holes (for self-tapping screws) to avoid cracking them.

4.Fasteners for a suitcase. You probably already noticed that at the very beginning, when sawing the rail, 6 blanks were made. And above, only 5 were used. Right! One was left unused, as it had the function of attaching the suitcase itself to the wall.

Therefore, first make two "notches" of about 3 cm. from the edge of the workpiece, and then drill the holes. It remains only to insert the bar into the upper part of the rectangle and screw it to the side partitions.

5.Assembling a retro locker. The most awaited moment! Insert the "frame" into the suitcase and screw it to the wall. If you wish, you can decorate the suitcase with a mirror, add a couple of miniature hooks and maybe even rhinestones, and why not ?!

And so, the wall-mounted vintage cabinet is ready. Experiment, do not be like everyone else and then the result will not be long in coming!
