Rebirth from the ashes! Or 5 practical ideas for using wood ash in everyday life
Paradoxical! But ash, which is formed as a result of burning hardwoods, can do just as good as its predecessor - firewood!
Good afternoon dear friends!
I am sure that among the readers of Zen and my channel in particular there are many people who are happy owners of 6 acres, and maybe even at home with a real fireplace (stove). Precisely the lucky ones! Since for me, FIREPLACE Is not only a cool decorative element of the interior that can create a cozy, warm and blissful atmosphere in it, but also an irreplaceable "partner" in everyday life. Since after the heating process, wood ash remains in it, which has a lot of "usefulness"! That's why today I picked up 5 effective ways to use ashes in everyday life, which you probably did not know about.
But keep in mind that ash should not be a product formed after burning charcoal, which is sold everywhere, as some store samples contain chromium, lead and phosphates. It is preferable to use a "natural product" - firewood (branches) of fruit trees, birch or, for example, oak.
1.Cleaning the sink and other surfaces. First, "pass" the ash through a sieve. Because only powder is acceptable for cleaning, and not large elements of wood pulp. Then dip a damp sponge in ash flour and wipe the surfaces that need cleaning. Now attention! You can use such a "tool" only for cleaning ceramic sinks, enamel bathtubs and other stainless steel surfaces.
Otherwise, you will only make it worse! Although wood powder is delicate enough, its application should be selective!
2.Dish washing. It's no secret that dish detergent appeared not on the first day of human life on earth. And how did they deal with the dirty dishes? With wood ash! This method is environmentally friendly and effective, and all thanks to the high content of potassium in the ash, which perfectly dissolves fats. You only need to pour 8 tablespoons of ash into a liter jar of water and strain it after 6 hours. ALL!
As a result, you will receive a wonderful product that you can use to wash the dishes, and even the floor in the house! But be careful! Because if you leave the ash in the water longer, you can significantly increase the pH value. Which should not be higher than 12, otherwise you cannot avoid chemical burns.
3.Wash glass. Surprisingly, ash sometimes works no worse than an expensive product from the store. And in order to make the glass transparent again, you will need to dip the crumpled newspaper directly into the ash, and then wipe it. No newspaper, use a sponge or microfiber cloth. Easy, simple and inexpensive!
Or you can make a "cleaning paste" by mixing ash and water. As a result of such an operation, you will make a powerful household product that will have excellent properties.
4.Use as fertilizer. Wood ash, as I said above, is rich in potassium and more lime. And this is one of the main components for the successful loosening of acidic soil. That is, a reasonable "dose" of ash will have a positive and beneficial effect on the growth and flowering of your plants.
Enrich the potted soil by feeding it ash. And soon, not only your flora will become richer, but insects will not start in the soil!
5.Extend the life of fresh cut flowers. Did your loved one give you flowers for your birthday?! And you want to extend their life and thereby increase the time of aesthetic pleasure from their presence in the house? No problem! All the same wood ash will help you with this! First, moisten the cut flower stems, then lower them into the ash. Keep them in it for 5-6 minutes and then put them in a prepared vase.
Wood ash "heals" the incised stem and blocks its early wilting. This method works great with flowers such as orchid, rose, pelargonium and chrysanthemum, as well as aloe vera or asparagus.
