How to make a camping thermos from bottles. Experiment

I wanted to repeat the one seen, once a factory thermos, it represented a construction of a glass jar in a foam cover, a painted tin casing served as a body.

Making homemade products

I took a glass liter bottle, it was supposed to serve as the main vessel, I decided to make the casing from a two-liter PET bottle filled with polyurethane foam.

I cut off the neck from the plastic so that the glass container could fit and immediately frothed the bottom. Then he waited for the foam to set and set the glass bottle, then he filled the space with foam in small sections in a circle, waited for it to dry, and continued until he reached the top.

Bent the edges, warming them gently on the gas, considering that foam is a combustible material, it is better to use a hairdryer, but I left it in the village.

After that, I put some foam on top, cut out a new upper part from a plastic bottle, planted it on top of a thermos, cut it to size and again laid it on gas.

Checking the product

Everything is ready, I decided to check what happened, I need to fill it with boiling water. To do this, first poured them over the edges to heat, and then poured them completely.

It remains to summarize what came out of this venture. Keeps the temperature for a short time, an hour and a half in winter, in summer it will be more. Of the advantages, the fact that it is easy to manufacture, free and practically not afraid of falls, if it does not fall off the neck, and even in this case, it's not a pity. Suitable as a hiking option for fishing or a summer cottage. I will not advise doing it, it was interesting for me to experiment, which I did.
