3 ways to free the pipe from water for welding. One unusual
It is no secret that when repairing plumbing, the installed pipes are already filled with water, and the situation requires replacing the pipe or a whole unit. It is necessary to digest, but it is clear that before cutting the section, water remains in the pipes and must be removed, otherwise high-quality welding will not work. As, usually, the plumber acts in such a situation, uses the means at hand. I decided to demonstrate them.
First option
For clarity, I welded a plug to one end of the pipe and filled it with water. Took toilet paper (can I have a napkin) and using its absorbent properties, began to soak water from the pipe.
The method is working and gives a good result, the main thing is not to overdo it and remove the wet lump in time so that it does not fall off and does not remain in the pipe.
Second option
The same principle, only for moisture collection (from a vertical pipe) I use a cloth made of cloth with good water absorption properties.
The plus is that the fabric will not fall off at the wrong time and will not remain in the pipe, but, unfortunately, it may not be at hand.
Tritium method
To be honest, I spied it on the Internet, it is available, since a sprayer is used to collect water, which is in every home.
It is unscrewed from the container, placed in a tube in a pipe and pumps out water from it along the entire length of the tube. Naturally, it will not collect moisture from the walls, the first two methods are good for this. But if the stopcock does not hold well (leaks slightly), then due to the fact that you can immediately drain a lot of water, then enough time for repairs, until the moment when water again accumulates in a vertically located pipe. How do you like this method?
