Three compulsory garden treatments in spring

Everyone knows that even before bud break, it is necessary to carry out a lot of activities to prepare a garden or vegetable garden for the coming spring. Back in the winter, I made for myself a detailed list of what I will do this spring.

I highlighted the main points: pruning trees and bushes, whitewashing trees, 4 phases of spraying against diseases and pests (all 4 phases are not suitable for all plants, so be careful!).

Pruning

Tree pruning has many functions: adjusting and shaping the crown, rejuvenating, removing diseased, dry, broken branches to improve the yield and fruiting of a tree or bush.

Thoughtful ("correct") pruning allows you to grow from a tree of the required size with a strong trunk, which can withstand the weight of the future harvest, ripen the fruits on time and get a high-quality harvest.

"Wrong" pruning is considered, in which the crown remained uncircumcised - this leads to diseases of the tree, crop overload and, as a consequence, late ripening and poor quality of the crop.

Whitewash

It is an important stage for all trees from late February to the first 2 weeks of March. Many people think that whitewashing with lime is just a decor, but in fact this is not at all the case. Trees need to be whitewashed twice a year, in spring and autumn.

The thing is that in spring, due to temperature changes, young trees can very often crack, since during the day sap flows through them, and at night it freezes. Temperature jumps from +10 to -10 are detrimental to young trees.

In addition, whitewashing is needed to protect against pests and ants, who are not averse to feasting on young leaves and tree sap. Therefore, no matter what you whitewash: lime or water-based paint, the tree must be protected.

Spraying

This stage is divided into 4 phases: spraying before bud break, along the "green cone", during the flowering period, during the ovary appearance. Naturally, it is impossible to use the same drug in all phases, so always consult with the seller or a familiar agronomist before purchasing. Also, follow the instructions on the packaging of the product so as not to harm your plants.
