We save on priming the walls with soap: cheap primer, better than concrete contact
During the renovation it is necessary to use different building materials. Sometimes you just can't do without a primer. It helps to fix wallpaper, paint or plaster on the walls. You can buy a ready-made composition in a store or save money and prepare a primer yourself.
The most popular primer in our country is concrete contact.
They are used almost everywhere. But it is only suitable for applying gypsum plaster to concrete. Concrete contact roughens during application and removes water absorption from walls. Plaster on such a soil cannot slide, it adheres tightly.
There are deep penetration soils that are designed for loose, crumbling substrates. They slightly strengthen the base, but do not create a film on the surface and do not reduce the absorbency. There are universal options that create a small film on the surface. This primer is only suitable for walls under the wallpaper.
On canisters with a primer, the percentage of dry matter (residue) is not written. Although this is the most important indicator. It is better to buy a concentrate with a specified percentage of dry residue and dilute it as needed, taking into account the planned work.
Ways to make a primer with your own hands
The cost of the primer has increased recently. For example, in Leroy, concrete contact (12 kg.) Costs 550 rubles. 45 rubles per kilogram.
Deep penetration primer costs 10 liters - 650 rub. Therefore, many people decide to make a primer on their own.
Prepare the following:
- Household. soap - 2-3 pieces,
- PVA glue - 4 liters,
- Copper sulfate - 1 pack.
Grate the soap, dissolve it in 5 liters of boiling water.
Stir the mixture thoroughly. Add PVA and copper sulfate while stirring the solution continuously. Hold the primer over low heat (half an hour) and then drain.
Some believe that it is possible to prime the surface with one PVA. But this can't do, because the formed film after a while can come off along with the plaster.
There is an easier way. You need to grate the household soap (a piece) and dissolve in 3 liters hot water. Add to drying oils (50 gr.) And stir. In a separate bowl, dissolve the slaked lime in water (4 l.). Then mix everything and let it brew for 30 minutes. Strain the mass and you can start priming the surface.
