Large and medium-sized vegetable seeds have a peculiar spout. And it is this part that is slightly trimmed with scissors so that the seeds can quickly germinate. In this case, the seeds spend less time swelling the shell. This process is called scarification.

In addition, the seeds are stressed (they are dipped alternately in boiling water, then in ice water for a couple of seconds, so, up to 5-6 times), as a result of which they hatch faster than with the usual sowing. Sprouts may appear within 12 hours at a temperature of at least 25 degrees Celsius.

I sow the seeds that have hatched in a bowl with a depth of at least 5-7 cm.

The width of the container depends on the amount of seeds you are going to sow.

You can, for example, use a cake lid for these purposes, previously washed and treated in a solution of potassium permanganate. Drainage holes can be made at the bottom.

I use a store soil for sowing seeds, which is diluted with sod and forest soil by half (pre-treated with boiling water or potassium permanganate).

I make grooves in the bowls with a depth of at least 1 cm. The distance between the seeds in the groove itself is at least 2 cm, between the rows - at least 3 cm.

These dimensions allow you to keep the pepper in the container as long as possible before picking. But there is no need to delay the transplant, otherwise the pepper will simply take root for a long time, because it does not always tolerate a pick.

This procedure is usually carried out a month after planting, when 3 true leaves appear.

There will be sufficient distance between the plants for good lighting and airing, in which case a black leg is unlikely to appear on the shoots.

The grooves must be covered with soil, the soil must be pressed well with your hands so that there is better contact of the seeds with the soil.

Then the soil should be thoroughly sprayed with a spray bottle.

Cover the container with a bag to create a greenhouse effect and place in a warm place. Seedlings will appear in 3-5 days. The container must be immediately exposed to a bright place.

You can create a small mini-greenhouse by covering with the same cake lid, but only with a larger diameter.

Or use cling film, which needs to be punctured in several places for ventilation.
