How long does it take to sleep a day to extend your life?
Every person, waking up in the morning, dreams of lying in a warm bed for a little more time, especially if you have to wake up early for work every day.
Many people get out of bed at 6 am without any problems, while others cannot open their eyes even when the hand of the clock shows 9-10 am.
Is prolonged sleep actually beneficial or does it negatively affect the human body?
At school, children are taught that the optimal time for sleep is 8 hours. Scientists at the University of Colorado at Boulder have found that sleep is considered useful, the duration of which ranges from 6 to 9 hours.
To arrive at such results, they had to observe 461,000 people aged 40-69 years for 7 long years. The people in this group have never suffered a heart attack.
Scientists managed to find out that in people who slept less than 6 hours, the risk of encountering this ailment increased by 20%.
Those who surrendered into the arms of Morpheus for more than 9 hours risked having a heart attack 34% more often.
If a person has a genetic predisposition to heart disease, the risk of having a heart attack is reduced by 18%.
Even Celine Vetter, associate professor of integrative physiology, equates healthy sleep with proper nutrition and exercise.
Undoubtedly, a short sleep, especially if it is regular, will negatively affect the body and human health.
But there is nothing terrible and fatal if from time to time a person disrupts the sleep schedule and sleeps less or more than the specified time.
