Why FORUMHOUSE poultry farmers grow mini meat lines. Real Breeding Experience

Every season, passionate poultry farmers experience a new passion. Either this is a Jersey giant, or Maran, or Chinese silks, or other exotic and beautiful breeds.

And I'm a fan of VNITIP breeding dwarfs. Maybe they don't have a chic plumage, an incredible stat that forms a lyre between tail and neck, a showy tail and shaggy legs. But they have everything else in abundance.

In this article we will tell you how the members of our portal grow mini-meat breeding chickens All-Russian Research Institute of Poultry, what are the advantages of the bird of these lines, and how to get from them the greatest benefit.

  • Varieties of mini-chickens selected by the Research Institute of Poultry
  • Advantages and disadvantages of mini chickens
  • How to care for mini chickens

The same, only less

Mini-chickens, which were bred by Russian breeders, have, on average, 35% less weight than chickens of the mother forms. Males weigh about 3 kg, chickens - 2.5 kg.

In total, the Research Institute bred three populations of chickens, two with white plumage, one with red plumage. White chickens and red-black rooster can produce offspring of the most unexpected colors: from white to black, including striped, variegated, white-red, black-gray, etc.

It is believed that mini-chickens bred by Russian breeders are universal: they provide both meat and eggs. However, B-33 (Pygmy Leghorn) and P-11 (Pygmy Rhode Island) "specialize" in eggs (and show very good results), and mini-meat is bought and bred precisely because of meat, these are such mini broilers.

In the photo there are chickens (from left to right) B-33, P-11 and mini meat.

See what mini chicks look like when they are one month old.

These are mini meat:

This is B-33:

And this is P-11.

VNITIP breeders bred all these chickens to increase the profitability of products in poultry meat farming. 70% of the cost of chicken meat and eggs is the cost of feed, and mini-chickens eat a little, especially B-33 and P-11. Breeding birds of these lines can significantly reduce feed consumption.

The savings in feed when breeding mini-chickens is about 27%.

At poultry farms, one mini-chicken saves on average 5 kg of feed as compared to ordinary chickens; and if we consider the cost of feed for the production of eggs, it turns out that for every 10 eggs, on average, 700 grams of feed are saved.

As a rule, 125 g of feed is spent on one bird.

At FORUMHOUSE, some poultry farmers feed adult mini-chickens with KK for pigs: it is cheap and high in calories.

For a year of life, a chicken gives 180 eggs, on average, 60 grams each. The safety of young animals is 96%.

Mini-chickens are grown both in cages and simply in chicken coops.

I really like both the P-11 and the B-33. They lay well and the egg is not small.

If we temporarily replace the dwarf rooster in the herd with a regular one, of the Cornish breed, then we get early maturing broiler chickens.

Benefits of dwarf chickens

Little chickens are little chores. And if you believe the poultry farmers of our portal, there are practically no problems with mini-chickens, solid pluses.

  • Chickens move steadily despite stress, changes in weather and conditions of detention.
  • The chicken herd can be accommodated in the smallest area.

Guest719191

In winter, fourteen chickens calmly overwintered in area 1.3×1.3 meters. I made them a small perch, below the stool, and they all sat there beautifully.

  • The bird is peaceful, the cockerels do not fight with each other, do not fall on the hens with a stone from their perches.
  • Chickens are not flimsy, tenacious, nimble.
  • They reach puberty quickly.
  • They multiply in "themselves" without signs of degeneration.

Guest719191

He started a herd and be calm for many years - there will be a bird, an egg, and meat, and without any pecking of his own eggs and totalitarian hierarchy in the chicken coop, in which more than half are malnourished, and the smaller part, consisting of roosters, fattens.

Features of breeding dwarf chickens

Mini chicks hatch well as under the henand in the incubator. Fertility of eggs is, on average, about 95%, and hatchability is 85%.

Jeanne F

I put both P-11 and B-33 in the incubator for testing. Very good fertilization and hatching!

The only thing: when breeding mini-chickens, you must always monitor the accuracy of the standard and leave the best to the tribe. It is also important to avoid mixing with other breeds - hereditary qualities will change quickly and significantly, and the “mini” type will be lost along with all its advantages.

As we already said, chickens of mini-chickens are quite playful and strong, they grow quickly. The main thing is to keep them warm at first, in the cold they get sick, do not eat anything, and even go blind. But if you provide them with normal conditions, almost everyone will survive.

The first days of life it is necessary to maintain the temperature for chickens + 34- + 36 ° and reduce it by 3 degrees every week. After the chicks are 17 days old, the heating is stopped, the chicks will feel great even at +18 - + 20 °.

Feeding requirements are the same as for all other chicks.

At the age of two months, males already weigh about a kilogram, and chickens - 800 grams. By six months, males gain 2.5 kg, and chickens - about 2 kg.

About 10 chickens are left for one cockerel in the herd.

Here we move on to the only significant drawback of mini-chickens, it only applies to egg directions. It is completely unclear what to do with the cockerels, and sometimes 50% of the total chicken population hatch! There is so little meat in the carcasses of B-33 cockerels that you can't even cook soup out of them.

Our user with a nickname Martha At one not very beautiful moment, the B-33 cockerel got bored, became lethargic, stopped eating. I had to hack to death.

Martha

What can I say... There is meat with a gulkin's nose, even in pigeons there is more. I cooked borsch on it, like there is a little bit of butter.

Our user with a nickname Drug50 the situation with B-33 chickens in general turned out to be close to catastrophic: almost one hundred and 2.5-month-old cockerels.

Drug50

I tried two for soup. It all ended with soup - I could not find meat.

You can breed a mini-meat breed, and so that the chickens do not get fat and the oviduct does not narrow, feed them with feed for layers, and not feed for broilers, which helps to gain weight.

Guest719191

Since we are going to use mini-meat as layers, we give them food, which is more aimed at preparing a full-fledged egg in a cloaca: shells, protein, yolk with an increase in their number.

At the same time, both B-33 and P-11 are very good layers, which they try on with practically useless roosters. Drug50, who got 50 roosters, gradually found buyers for them, which made it possible to "beat off compound feed", and continued to cook soups from them.

In general, he liked this bird very much. The best mini-laying hen laid the first egg in 3 months 20 days and since then it regularly gives out one egg a day. At 4 months, all the other layers of this breed were handed out in unison.

Drug50

In the photo - on the left, a mini-meat - 45 grams, two little white sticks, 35 grams each, then - two beige sticks of 30-35 grams each, the lowest - 35 grams hays (but this is not on the topic).
