How do Germans live and why their homes are so cold
There are many stereotypes associated with the German people. Rumor has it that the Germans love punctuality, beer and sausages, and cleanliness. At the expense of the latter, I would argue, however, the first two statements are absolutely true. I lived for some time with a German family in northern Germany.
As you can see, the house was big enough, provided that a family of three lived there, well, also a dog and two horses. (By the way, I hasten to dispel another myth about the fact that the Germans do not like Russians. I studied at a German school, and either because of my open nature, or because of the greater tolerance of the younger generation, everyone around me simply adored me. There was really one teacher with whom we did not get along. And then only for the reason that he claimed that the Germans won the Second World War. However, this is a completely different story.
Returning to the first two stereotypes, yes, they are terribly punctual. All trains, and I used them often, arrive minute by minute, and school buses leave exactly at the appointed time. Once I nevertheless witnessed a train delay. From this event, several people on the platform went into hysterics (which, as a Russian person, shocked me). I am late always and everywhere, so getting out in the morning on time to catch the right bus was a big challenge for me.
By the way, about buses and trains. For them, there are special passes on sale, with which you can save a lot. A couple of times I drove as a hare, but then I found out the amount of the fine for this small crime and decided not to risk it anymore. Germans love beer and drink it very often. Even at lunch. Even children aged 15-16. When it comes to their housing, most Germans prefer private houses. (Except in big cities).
And all would be fine, but it is very cold in their houses. I was very cold when I came to visit. Especially my feet were freezing from the ice floor. As it turned out later, the Germans have a lot of money for housing and communal services and heating. It is for this reason that even the most affluent of them save on such an elementary factor of comfort.
The family in which I lived, although it was not distinguished by special wealth, did not like to save on comfort. We were always warm and clean. When I was there, the family never cleaned, however, there was never any dust on the floor and surfaces, and the rooms were always cleaned. In other families, I have not seen this.
Very often when visiting, I saw a complete mess on coffee tables, in baths and in kitchens of other Germans. Therefore, here the myth of the pedantry of the Germans suffers a complete collapse.
Otherwise, the house where I lived was no different from others.
The same neat gardens, with perfect bushes and paths.
In general, the Germans are not that different from us. What stereotypes do you know about them?
