What do they sleep on in Central Asia (available, saves in the heat and takes up little space)
I happened to visit Uzbekistan. And I just could not get used to the fact that the locals were sleeping on the floor, on special mattresses. But the Uzbeks argue that this is convenient for many reasons.
Saves in hot weather
When the heat is sweltering from April to October, it is much more pleasant to sleep in a cool place. In Central Asia, beds and other items of heavy furniture were always absent. There were no chairs either, and wardrobes replaced chests.
It is now people who are trying to acquire headsets, but in the average kishlach families they get by the old way - mattresses.
The mattresses on which they sleep are called "tushak", and those that are used as blankets are called "kurpa". The latter can be laid on the floor if more than two people are required.
In winter, you can lay mattresses in 3-4 layers - they themselves are thick and soft.
Takes up little space
In the same average families there are many children. Less than four children are rare in Uzbekistan. Space in the house is sorely lacking.
And here it is convenient, I slept, in the morning I put a stack of mattresses on the chest. And nothing interferes with movement around the house.
Available
In Central Asia, the most common material is cotton. Many things are made of it: fabrics, oil, cotton wool. In the process of processing cotton wool, several varieties are obtained: the highest, the first and second - waste. It is with these waste that the mattress cover is stuffed.
It is very convenient: I used the mattress for a month. I ripped it open - I gave the cotton wool for recycling, and washed the cover. Everywhere in Uzbekistan there are special workshops that process cotton waste. The cotton wool will be dried, passed through the machine: you get an even cotton layer, on which a cover can be easily put on. And you can use it again. Everything is natural, no chemistry.
Without a doubt, each country has its own national customs, which are convenient in its realities. And I think it is impossible to apply them in another country, with its own characteristics and climate. How can you sleep on the floor in a Russian hut, even if there are such warm cotton mattresses? You can spend the night a couple of times. But you can't live like that all your life. And what do you think?
