5 Things Even Non-Orthodox Should Do Before Christmas
Today is the eve of a holiday that concerns all Russians - Christmas. Even atheists and professors of other religions cannot fail to notice that today is a special day for many.
I believe that when many people give an important meaning to an event, then its own atmosphere grows around this date. Collective thought collects colossal energy today.
Why not use it and put it on a positive track?
I have compiled a token list of things to do today. Being far from the life of the clergy, I do not take upon myself the right that does not belong to me to teach religious matters. Only worldly, but undoubtedly kind)
1. Call everyone who has not yet congratulated on the holidays
Unfortunately, in the festive New Year's bustle, it is not always possible to congratulate everyone we would like. Maybe you want to wish your old college friend happiness? Don't waste time while it's still there. I am sure that the call will bring you positive emotions. And not just you. And at the same time you will get rid of the torment of conscience that you did not do everything you wanted.
2. Take a walk in nature
If you have the opportunity to go to the forest or to the river, great. But even a 20 minute walk through the city park will be beneficial.
The main thing is not to rush anywhere! Listen to yourself and to the world around you: although the calendar winter is approaching the middle, nature does not sleep at all. Branches creak, creak, as well as lively tits cry somewhere nearby. Try to understand what your soul is creaking or laughing about. And what can be done about it.
3. Feed wild birds
For many people, the bright holiday of Christmas is associated with the birth of a new life. But I don't think it is worth focusing on this particular side of the date. You should not deprive those who are already alive with warmth and kindness.
For example, treat wild birds. The birds, despite the mild weather, still need human help. Just do not feed them, please, millet: they cannot have it. Better to buy a packet of raw sunflower seeds.
4. Cook something special
Although I am a supporter of the fact that there is no need to wait for special occasions and calendar dates, in everyday life it is not always possible to please yourself with surprises in cooking. Surely each of us has a recipe in store, according to which you want to bungle a dish for so long?
And Christmas Eve is a great occasion! And it will be nice and tasty, I hope) I'm starting to cook meat with nuts (a variation on Georgian cuisine).
How will you celebrate this Christmas?
