Spathiphyllum is my favorite beautiful indoor flower. It is not difficult to take care of it, and it pleases me with its long unfading flowering. Please note that after purchasing a plant, at least 3 weeks must pass before the first transplant.

This is necessary in order for the flower to acclimatize in a new place, get used to the temperature regime, and strengthen the root system.

In the store, the plant is in peat soil. This is not suitable for the further development of the plant.

Step-by-step instructions for transplanting spathiphyllum

If you have purchased a flowering plant, it is not recommended to disturb it. Better to wait until the end of flowering.

Further stages of the transplant consist of the following steps:

· It is necessary to choose a new pot so that it is larger than the previous one (2-3 cm wider). I recommend washing it and pouring it over with boiling water;

· Prepare the ground. The flower prefers loose, slightly acidic soil. You can buy ready-made land in the store or cook it yourself. To do this, 1 part of peat, charcoal and brick chips (0.5 parts each), 1 part of sand must be added to leaf and sod soil in a 1: 2 ratio. To enrich the soil, I add a little more superphosphate;

· Equipment that will be used for transplanting a flower must be disinfected with a liquid containing alcohol;

· Then you need to prepare the plant. To do this, I remove old dried leaves and young shoots. If there are peduncles, trim them so that the flower after transplanting does not waste its energy on maintaining flowering;

Pour a layer of drainage (expanded clay) on the bottom of the prepared pot, and pour a layer of soil up to half;

Then remove the spathiphyllium from the pot along with a lump of soil. If it is difficult to remove, you can moisten the ground with water. To clean the roots of old soil and drainage;

· Examine the root system. I recommend shortening long roots, and cutting out rotten ones. The cut sites should be treated with charcoal or activated carbon powder;

· Transfer the flower together with the soil to a new pot, add the rest of the soil and tamp it slightly.

Water the soil abundantly after the transplant. After a while, excess water must be drained from the pan. If the soil has settled, then add more soil to the pot.

In humid conditions, spathiphyllum will recover faster after transplantation, and adapt to the new microclimate.
