The easiest way to properly transplant Decembrist. Even a child can handle
My favorite thing about caring for houseplants is watering and pruning for a neater, cute look. I don't like replanting home flora, but nothing can be done - she needs it from time to time.
And especially rich experience in this regard I have accumulated with the Decembrist, about which I can share useful advice.
The Decembrist needs a transplant in only 3 cases:
· Immediately after purchase at a flower shop;
When it has grown so much that the roots have reached the drainage holes of the pot (so that young plants are transplanted once every 12 months, adults - once every 3 years);
· In case of severe disease / pest infestation, when soil replacement is part of "curative therapy".
The new container should exceed the previous one in diameter by no more than 2-4 cm.
The soil mixture should be nutritious, loose, acidity up to pH 6.0. In a florist's shop, you can take the one that says "for cacti". But one day I decided to prepare the soil myself and use such a recipe for the Decembrist - 2 parts of leafy soil and 1 part of a large river stove, peat and turf soil.
At the bottom of the pot, I create drainage from fragments of brick, tiny pebbles or expanded clay.
But it is not enough to have soil - it still needs to be cleaned of pathogenic microorganisms!
To do this, you can put it in the freezer for 1 day or hold it for 30 minutes in an oven preheated to 200 ° C. Then it still does not hurt to add a little crushed activated carbon - it prevents the formation of mold in the soil.
Having finished with the preparatory (and very important!) Part, you can proceed to the direct transplant of the Decembrist.
It can be presented in the following steps:
1. Pour drainage into the pot and add 1-2 cm of soil, level.
2. Loosen the soil deeply in the pot with the Decembrist you are replanting.
3. Grasp the plant at the base of the trunk and gently shake it, remove it with an earthen lump.
4. Remove old soil from the roots.
5. Examine the plant and remove old, diseased, and damaged roots.
6. Using the shower, gently rinse the root system and dry by placing it on paper on the windowsill.
7. Dip the Decembrist into a brand new pot exactly in the center.
8. Cover it with earth, correct - so that the plant stands upright.
9. Lightly compact the soil.
10. Take the pot to its permanent habitat.
11. After 2 days, pour for the first time - you need about 50% of the usual volume of water, it should be warm.
The best time for a transplant is from late February to mid-May (with the exception of the last reason for her - then you need to save in any season).
The fact is that it is in the spring of Schlumberger (the second name of the Decembrist) that the leaf mass increases, which means it has a high level of vitality.
