Landing
When considering bags with pomegranate seeds, you need to pay attention to the expiration date, which is affixed to the bag. The fresher the planting material, the more chances of seeing friendly seedlings. Planting work can begin from the end of December.
The seeds are spread overnight on damp cotton pads or a regular cloth, covered with cellophane on top so that the moisture does not evaporate so much. Several holes are made in the container so that excess water does not accumulate. The soil for the pomegranate should be loose and nutritious with a neutral reaction.
The seeds are buried into the soil by no more than one centimeter and sprinkled with soil. Next, the planting is watered with water and covered with glass or film. At this time, the air temperature is maintained within + 22-25 ° С.
So that mold does not appear on the soil from time to time, the shelter is removed. It will take about 14-20 days to wait for shoots. During this period, the soil is kept moist.
Seedling care
Seedlings of pomegranates are exposed on the most lighted windowsill. If the pomegranate was planted in winter, provide an additional light source. The fluorescent lamp is turned on in the early morning and evening for two hours.
Water the pomegranate as the soil dries. After about two months, several pairs of true leaves appear on the pomegranate seedlings. Now young pomegranates can be transplanted into separate cups. With the onset of freezing temperatures, the trees are taken out to the glazed balcony. On hot days, trees should be sprayed with warm water.
In the first year, pomegranate grown from seed can bloom. In this case, it is recommended to remove the flowers, since the plant is not fully developed yet.
Adult plant
Indoor pomegranate blooms from April to August, the fruits are tied independently. In the fall, the tree sheds some of the leaves, at this time the watering is cut and the pomegranate pot is transferred to a cool place. During the rest period, the temperature in the room should not be higher than + 16 degrees.
If these conditions are observed, then in spring the pomegranate will bloom and bear fruit abundantly. The cool regimen is provided for 1-1.5 months.
In the fall, fertilizing is also needed, it can be complex mineral fertilizers for indoor plants.
After about 1.5 years, the young pomegranate can be formed. The procedure is carried out in March. When pruning, 5-6 main branches are left. You also need to take into account that the fruits are formed on the branches of the previous year.
