Wondering why the Decembrist drops the Buds? We find out the cause and fix it!
Almost the most winter flower in the world, Schlumberger, annually pleases me with a scattering of lovely tender buds. But it so happens that they - prematurely crumble.
An unpleasant situation, but as I found out from personal experience, it is not the most terrible one, it is quite correctable and even preventable.
One of the most common and less obvious reasons is that the flower pot is turned / moved after flowering. Yes, few flowers are so painfully sensitive to movement, but the Decembrist somehow cleverly explains this by a scientific evolutionary path (something related to survival in a desert).
The solution to the problem is logical - you need to put the Schlumberger as it was before.
The loss of buds can also be a sign of a weakening of the flower by diseases (phytium, late blight, fusarium) or pests (mealybug, spider mite). In this case, unfortunately, you can forget about the blooming of a diseased plant for the current season.
We can only hope that it will survive at all. It is recommended to use effective store-bought insecticides and fungicides, rather than folk recipes.
Further, it is important to note that each vegetative cycle of a plant has its own optimal temperature regime:
· Active growth - + 25 ° С;
· Laying of buds and flowering - + 18-20 ° С;
· The period of "rest" - + 12-16 ° С.
A sharp excess of the indicated temperatures leads to an irreparable loss of buds, for example, when the Schumberger is placed near a heater, literally burning with streams of dry hot air. Drafts should also be avoided.
The listed reasons for dropping the buds are far from the only ones. They are complemented by:
1. Insufficient or excessive watering, leading to acidification of the substrate. Normally, watering is carried out without allowing the substrate to completely dry.
2. Low air humidity. It is natural that a tropical plant needs it. It helps to place the pot with the Decembrist on a tray with wet pebbles.
3. Lack of nutrients in the soil. It is noteworthy that it is not necessary to apply fertilizers just during the setting of buds and flowering - this is done in the summer, allowing the plant to create reserves.
But from personal experience I can say that a little potassium does not hurt, but only helps the Decembrist bloom brighter.
4. Bookmark a large number of buds. In order not to lose everything, the excess must be carefully removed before they begin to bloom.
5. Not timely transplant. Ideally, it is done at the end of February. If you do this on the eve of the appearance of buds, you can say goodbye to flowering for the current season.
