Hippeastrum is a flexible and grateful plant. I cannot withstand all the requirements for caring for it and ensure the required temperature regime, but my hippeastrum still bloom every spring, releasing one arrow after another.

The biggest mistake I made was the wrong pot. The plants did not want to bloom in any way after I chose a wider pot, with a margin so that there was enough water and minerals in excess.

And so it turned out that handsome men are sensitive to proper feeding, not only the trace element composition is important, but also the regime.

Growth periods of the hippeastrum

Flower arrows appear between January and April, and the largest bulbs may even bloom again. The flowers on the arrow last for about twenty days.

Sometimes it happens that the long-awaited arrows do not form; instead, the plant only grows lush tops. The belt-like leaves have no particular aesthetics.

Errors that prevent blooming are as follows:

● too large, wide or deep pot;

● the bulb is too deep in the ground;

● insufficient lighting;

● errors in watering;

● lack of a rest period;

● the onion is too small;

Too large a pot and a large amount of fertile soil allow amaryllis to go into active growth and the creation of children, while flowering does not occur until the onion grows to the size of a pot and does not deplete soil.

The correct vessel should be narrow, filled with a good layer of drainage, and only on top is the onion sticking out of the ground by a third.

Flower buds in the bulb will be laid only if in the previous season the plant had enough lighting and watering, After flowering, the pot should be in a lighted place, sometimes the bulbs are even planted in greenhouse.

After a dormant period and before flowering, hippeastrum is not fertilized, especially for bulbs that have not had time to take root.

1. After a dormant period, the plant is watered the only time when leaves appear, and then watering begins only when the arrow has already stretched 15-20 centimeters. At the same time, fertilizer is introduced for flowering plants with a high phosphorus content.. After that, the hippeastrum is fertilized every two weeks with a weak solution of fertilizer for flowering plants.

2. By the time of flowering, the emphasis in fertilizers is shifted for nitrogen (7 parts), potassium and phosphorus, respectively 3 and 6.
