Tired of growing Bitter Radishes? A Few Simple Tips To Help Remove Bitterness From Vegetables
Radish belongs to a common vitamin culture. It is grown in summer cottages and rural gardens. Often the harvest is upsetting when the bitter radish grows.
I want to share with you my experience on how to grow a juicy radish without bitterness, so that it has a sweetish taste and pleasant pungency.
Causes of bitterness
The main causes of radish bitterness are:
· Insufficient amount of moisture;
· Overripening of root crops is allowed;
· Lack of regular and proper care.
The reasons point to insufficient plant care.
Tips on how to grow radishes without bitterness
The main advice I want to give you is proper and regular care.
It consists of the following:
· Thin seedlings. Dense seedlings develop worse, they are busy fighting for survival, trying to take away water and food from each other. Thinning the seedlings, I leave the distance between seedlings 3-5 cm;
· Water the radishes regularly and evenly. In hot weather, select watering time in the morning or late in the evening. Watering should be every day, and wetting the earth to the depth of the roots.
On cool days, you can reduce the frequency of watering - water once every 2-3 days. Be sure to pay attention so that the soil does not dry out. Watering plants in the daytime does not make sense: moisture evaporates quickly;
· If you grow radishes in greenhouse conditions, then after watering you should organize airing;
· Weed the beds regularly to remove weeds. Indeed, like dense crops, so do weeds deprive seedlings of water, light and nutrition;
· After watering or rain between the rows, you need to loosen the soil. Otherwise, a crust forms on the surface, the root system will not receive enough oxygen for plant development;
· Pick ripe root crops in time, do not allow them to overripe. Harvest your crops in several ways.
If you leave ripe roots in the ground, they will no longer grow, but the pulp of the radish will acquire coarseness, dryness and become bitter;
· I use a little trick that I learned from experienced gardeners: I pour a little salt into the grooves prepared for sowing. It will disinfect the soil, and will give the root crops juiciness, crispness, and a pleasant taste.
I am sure that by following the simple recommendations when growing radishes in your garden, you will get a good harvest of juicy and tasty radishes.
