Decorate your Garden. And I will tell you step by step how to make such a Miracle with your own hands
An alpine slide gives an exquisite look to any personal plot. Often it is she who becomes the central element of the garden landscape design.
And in principle, there is nothing difficult in creating it with your own hands. I did just that a few years ago, and since friends and family who come to visit are pouring enthusiastic comments about its appearance, now I can safely share my thoughts on how to do everything in several consecutive steps.
Project development
I advise you to be inspired by the many photographs of professional landscape designers and then create your own something unique.
So that the final slide does not disappoint, you need to create its layout in a 3D computer program or sketch it out with a pen or colored pencils on a sheet of paper.
When choosing plants, keep in mind that the alpine slide should always look picturesque - therefore the flowers should bloom one after another. And it is not necessary to choose only mountain species - after all, containers with any substrate can be placed between the stones.
Site selection
The best place is a natural hill. On a flat area, the hill is being erected independently. And in any case - the slope for the slide should be facing east or south.
Effectively, you can place an alpine slide near a reservoir, the facade of a house or a fence, in the center of the lawn.
It is unacceptable to arrange it on the leeward side of the site, on the shore of a reservoir where the earth is crumbling, as well as in places where snow and rain water accumulate.
Procedure
The project, formed in the imagination and creatively on paper, must be transferred to paper as a drawing on a scale that corresponds to the real dimensions of the site.
Further steps for working with a slide on a flat area look like this:
1. Plot marking - the boundaries of the hill are marked with pegs with twine, pieces of wood, or just grooves from a shovel.
2. Digging a pit - after removing the sod, they dig out a depression of 50-80 cm and fill it with sand, if the soil on the site is clayey or loam - if it is sandy. Then the layer must be watered, compacted and covered with geotextile.
3. Drainage - first, a layer 20-40 cm thick is poured from crushed stone, expanded clay or broken brick, a sand-gravel or crushed-stone-sand mixture is poured on top.
4. The core of the slide - this elevation of 50-80 cm (for simple projects) is formed from fine rubble, broken concrete or even construction waste. The main thing is to give it a conical shape. At this stage, a break is needed for the soil to shrink for several weeks.
5. Priming - it is covered in three layers. The lower one is 15-20 cm from the soil in half with pebbles or fine gravel. Medium 8 cm from the ground equally with coarse sand. The top is 8-40 cm from fertile soil (it all depends on the types of plants planted).
6. Stacking stones - in the lower tiers it is better to lay the largest boulders, deepening them by 2/3 of the height. Then the stones are laid out according to their taste.
And finally, at the final stage, they are engaged in planting plants.
