We collect Zucchini already in June. Sharing my secret of growing early zucchini
Zucchini is glorified as a dietary, vitamin, seasonal vegetable for universal culinary purposes. But what joy is it to collect them when summer is running out? Once, not wanting to put up with this state of affairs anymore, I studied the botanical literature and realized what really needed to be done so that the zucchini would ripen in the open field in June.
And to begin with, I want to note - it does not matter what calendar period is suitable for planting squash seedlings in a particular garden. The main thing is that the average daily temperature is not lower than + 15 ° С, and the soil warms up to + 12... 13 ° С to a depth of 10-12 cm - it is there that the roots of plants will be in the ground.
Free space is also of great importance - after all, in cramped conditions, no matter how much fertilizer you apply, zucchini will not be able to develop quickly. I always leave between the plants themselves and the rows of 70-80 cm.
As for fertilizers, the first portion of the seedlings should be received already when they are taken out to the garden - in each hole it is necessary to add 0.5 buckets of humus or compost, and also 1 tablespoon of superphosphate in granules. This will allow the culture to take root faster, which means it will direct its forces towards flowering and the formation of ovaries.
It is important to emphasize that zucchini is a moisture-loving culture. From the moment of planting the seedlings to flowering, they are watered once a week, spending strictly 5 liters per bush. When the crop is formed and ripens, it is necessary to water it even more often, that is, 2 times a week and 8-10 liters of water are consumed per 1 square meter of planting.
I also want to warn against a big mistake - watering with cold water. If you take this into a habit, then you can not even dream of an early good harvest! Cold water provokes rotting of the ovaries and stops the growth of already formed young fruits.
It may seem surprising, but planting after legumes, for example, affects zucchini no worse than fertilization - peas and beans, which, being green manure, restore the natural microflora of the soil, enrich it with nitrogen.
But planting zucchini after pumpkins and cucumbers is not recommended - because they have many common diseases and pests that can ruin all plans for an early harvest.
Finally, I will reveal one more secret. Zucchini love the sun, they need it more than all other garden crops, therefore, for early abundant fruiting, it is unacceptable to plant them in the shade.
