Rough, but common mistakes when installing lining with your own hands.
To sew up walls or ceilings with clapboard, no special professional skills and special tools are required.
Therefore, quite often home craftsmen make the installation independently, without resorting to the help of specialists.
And what a shame thenwhen between the boards gaps are formed or the lining changes its geometry and so-called "houses" or waves appear.
And the reason is painfully simple. Just one gross error during installation, and all the efforts made are reduced to nothing.
In order not to face such a problem, it is better to know in advance the gross mistakes that are often made when installing the lining. We will consider them below.
The shrinkage factor of the material is not taken into account.
Lining, like any wood itself, rather capricious material, which the changes its volume depending on temperature and humidity changes.
Very often this is forgotten and the lining is installed immediately after its delivery.
As a result during operation the lining is deformed, and gaps may appear between the boards.
To prevent this from happening, lining must undergo acclimatization in for at least 3 days in the room where it will be mounted.
The lining is not treated with protective compounds.
Often on special antibacterial and flame retardant impregnations trying to save.
Postpone processing until later or refuse it altogether.
As a result lining very quickly loses its attractive appearance, darkens and eventually gets affected by fungus.
The lathing frame is not installed correctly.
Quite often, a mistake is made when erecting a frame.
The width of the step between the lathing lags is not chosen correctly(more than necessary).
The result is uneven distribution of the load on the boards and the lining is deformed, protrudes and “stand up as a house”.
Fastener not correctly selected.
With the wrong choice of fasteners, the lining can also bend in waves, crack and "stand up as a house."
For example, for cladding wet rooms and for outdoor decoration, you should not use clamps. They do not provide reliable fixation of the lining. In these conditions, it is better to use self-tapping screws.
