Infrared film on windows

Questions home insulation and heating savings on its use on my channel is very popular, so I decided to write today about this newfangled thing as infrared film for windows.

In recent years, this product has done a lot of noise and managed to win both supporters and opponents. I will give an unbiased assessment, because this topic is very new for me.

Infrared film (More it is called athermal) - double-sided self-adhesive window film for heat conservation. Manufacturers claim that it is capable to reflect 60% of the heat back into the room, and only 40% pass on the street. Operation scheme is shown below:

I decided to try this film, paid 600 rubles per meter, and pasted film only on one half of the French windows (why did that - explain below).

Winter came and it was time to see how effective the infrared film. He called a friend who works with thermal imaging inspection of buildings. Here is the result:

It turns out that the film does reflect some of the heat (but not all) back into the room, while the ordinary glass transmits heat on the street.
