How to double the harvest of Cucumbers, and prolong Fruiting until autumn
The goal of every gardener is to obtain a plentiful and high-quality harvest. If your cucumbers do not bear fruit well, you should determine the cause.
To do this, I will share my experience with you and give advice on how to increase the yield of cucumbers on your site, and extend the harvest until autumn.
Ways to increase the yield of cucumbers
The main recommendations are:
· The key to success begins with the selection of seeds. You need to choose high-quality, large, regular-shaped seeds. I have verified that the first year seed will produce a large number of barren flowers. The most productive will be seeds of 2-4 years old;
· At the beginning of growth, pay attention to the root system. After all, well-developed roots will provide strength to the plant. When the third leaf appears on the bushes, start hilling. Until the whip gains strength, loosen the ground before each watering. This will facilitate the flow of nutrition to the root system;
· For good pollination, try to attract insects to the site. For this, I plant melliferous plants. These include oregano, sage, thyme, clover, marigolds. You can also sprinkle sweet water over the cucumbers, and in cloudy weather, manually pollinate with a brush;
· Correct and timely watering affects the increase in productivity. Water the cucumbers with warm water only. Water with a temperature below +18 C will have a negative effect on the roots. Limit or stop watering on cold and cloudy days. In addition, you need to know that cucumbers "drink with leaves", so do not forget to water the tops too. Watering should be done in the morning or evening;
· To increase the yield, pay attention to feeding. Supplements are needed throughout the entire development period until the end of fruiting. Plants especially need feeding at the beginning of the harvest. I recommend fertilizing every week;
· During fruiting, harvest cucumbers regularly. I do it every other day. Be careful not to injure the whips. Cucumbers not picked in time take away the strength from the plant, and thereby reduce the formation of a new ovary.
