Do-it-yourself budget insulation, better than foam
Our winters are harsh, so private homes require insulation. There is a lot of insulation on sale: foam, min. cotton wool, expanded polystyrene, ecowool, penoizol, foam glass, etc. Such materials are not cheap.
Some craftsmen choose homemade, ecological insulation.
How to make a cheap and high-quality material for home insulation with your own hands? What could be a good alternative to min. cotton wool and foam?
In terms of thermal conductivity, homemade insulation is similar to foam (there are air gaps).
The resulting insulation does not burn. Scares away insects and rodents. Unlike foam, the material is strong and durable. Fungus and mold will not appear on the walls made of such insulation. In winter it will keep warm, and in summer it will not let the heat enter the house. Good soundproofing qualities.
Ecological insulation can be made from flax or hemp fires.
Campfire Is a processed product of hemp or flax. These are the so-called wood particles. First, a rectangular shape with a bottom is made (optimal size 40x50 cm). You can make it from pallet boards or chipboard.
The idea is to mix lime, cement (M500), flax. Proportions: 2.5 liters of cement per 200 gr. lime. It is necessary to get a semi-dry mixture. We shift the mass (half) into the form and ram it. Then we fill up the second part and tamp it again.
We wait a day and take out the insulation from the form. The insulation is attached to glue and fungi, as for foam.
