Why in Germany the walls in nurseries are white and the curtains are black
German designers simply love to paint the walls with snow-white paint. Even in the nursery! But at the same time, window openings are decorated with dark blue, marsh green or even black curtains - for children! Why is that? I found out personally!
It is known that the mentality of the Germans and ours is somewhat different, let's say. This is especially often and clearly manifested in the upbringing of children. On my first visit, I noticed that it is not customary for them to paste over the walls with wallpaper. They simply coat them with white water dispersion paint. Moreover, everywhere - in the hallway, living room, bedroom and even in the kitchen.
But if in the common rooms and parental bedrooms, the curtains on the windows can be of any color, or even absent altogether (they are often replace blinds), then in children's rooms blackout curtains of the darkest shades hang on the windows - dark gray, deep blue, dirty green. And this is no exception! Time after time I came across such a feature of the interior and in the end I could not resist, I asked a direct question.
Johann and Katrina looked at me with deep surprise, after which Katrina explained: “On the white walls, a child can draw or hang his drawings. This allows him to assert himself and develop, to show the characteristics of his personality. Then the walls can be repainted, it's easy. " "Why dark curtains?" - I asked.
“Well, how! they exclaimed simultaneously. - So that the sun does not interfere with falling asleep in the summer! It turns out that they put children to bed at 7 pm, both in winter and in summer, and two-year-olds and 12-year-olds.
This is the time that German doctors and teachers consider optimal for the child's body to fully rest and develop. "And if the child does not want to sleep at 7 o'clock?" I asked in amazement. "But it must be so!" Johann assured me sternly.
So much for self-affirmation with the manifestation of personality. You can paint on white walls. And go to bed after seven even in the summer at 12 years old - no way.
