Early Grape Varieties That All Successful Summer Residents Should Have
On my summer cottage there are 8 varieties of grapes of different ripening periods. With special impatience my grandchildren are waiting for the ripening of early grapes, which are very tasty.
Over the years, I have carefully selected the early varieties of this culture in order to enjoy its unique taste, prepare juices and compotes from it for the winter.
1. My favorite, among summer cottages, is Pleven stable, which is also called Augustine. It was bred in Bulgaria as an early large-fruited table variety.
Among the advantages of this grape:
Disease resistance
Unpretentious care
Good frost tolerance
Annual fruiting
The white oval berries of Pleven are sustainable and easy to transport. In the middle lane, it ripens in early August.
2. Pereyaslavskaya Rada grapes are characterized by their original pink color and excellent taste. Collect it in the second decade of August. Large clusters with elongated oval-shaped berries have a honey-caramel taste.
The peel of the berries is not dense, you hardly feel it when consumed. The vine endures winter without problems, since it is frost-resistant and does not react to temperature fluctuations.
3. The favorite early variety of my whole family is the Mirage raisin. It is also called Rusbol. The berries of this grape have no seeds. In some cases, small rudiments may be present.
Self-pollinated variety with moderately dense berries. The bushes grow strongly over the season, and their abundant yield, sometimes, even leads to the breaking of the vine.
To prevent this from happening, I prune the grapes in the spring, shortening the vine by 3-6 eyes. During the summer, I have to remove underdeveloped inflorescences and shoots.
Kishmish "Mirage" is not afraid of frost, withstanding temperatures of -25 degrees. Despite these characteristics, it must be covered for the winter to avoid icing.
Good raisins are made from this grape variety, so I cut the cuttings and breed it to increase the harvest of this useful product. Such grapes can be grown by both experienced summer residents and beginners.
4. To unpretentious grape varieties, I include Agat Donskoy. It is trimmed like the Mirage raisins, as it grows strongly during the season. This early variety is self-pollinating and has round blue berries with a waxy coating.
It is resistant to disease and severe frost. The shell of the berries is dense, and the pulp is pleasant to the taste, but without aroma. Agate Donskoy always gives a consistently high yield.
When my family has enough of it, I make delicious homemade wine from this variety.
Having planted early grape varieties, summer residents will be able to enjoy the taste of its berries until the autumn harvest of this culture. Buy seedlings of early grapes to delight yourself and your loved ones with the taste of juicy berries.
